And there’s no doubt GQP will run on these benefits expiring, or how they’ll be the ones to strengthen.

Dems are just so bad at governing.

Of course paying little to no attention to voting rights is the bigger crime to me.

After everything the African American community did to save Joe Biden, and America from certain disaster with another Trump

Biden has done next to nothing to make sure their rights are protected. Now it’s more of a delay towards the inevitable in 2025

Did something in his brain break over the last two decades or was he always like this and 9/11 leadership was outlier ??

Also, I’m starting to dislike Garland more and more. He doesn’t seem to be up for the task. Same with Biden even tho i feel his response on covid and Afghanistan have been good

he was always a little eccentric, but he's absolutely lost it over the past decade.

part of it was his inability to launch a post mayorial career (and the success bloomberg had as mayor made rudy largely forgettable) - part of it was bitterness at the Clintons. people forget that Rudy was neck and neck with Hillary for the NY Senate seat before his marriage fell apart AND he got a cancer diagnosis within like 2 weeks of each other, causing him to drop out. that could drive anyone nuts.

he's also, ya know, just plain old and out to lunch.

All this heartburn with unified government, BEAL.
Imagine when the country decides to go with divided government again.

This isn’t a joke. We have one party who’s against the Right to vote, won’t even hold debate on it to make their case, just flat out NO.

Same party that won’t allow a commission to investigate an armed insurrection that may have been orchestrated by a sitting President, and members of Congress.

This isn’t a both sides issue. This is pure power grab because the Republicans have no ideas other than suppression due to a changing demographic, and tax cuts for the rich / corporations which keeps the $$$ flowing into their pockets.

This is where Biden has to earn his Presidency. Right now. Take charge and get your party in line, stop giving up cause two or three members are difficult. Leaders make it happen, Democrats probably don’t have another chance

They do.

Apparently they represent politicians you can't stomach. That's ok.

Can’t tell if you’re agreeing that they represent power or you’re disagreeing and saying they’re bipartisan.

They use their positions of power to push their agenda. Bipartisanship is Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders getting in a room and making concessions. Not one clown holding the country’s progress hostage because they know they are the key.

That’s an after-the-fact appreciation.

Republicans shouldn’t trust rinos and Democrats shouldn’t trust Joe Manchin. Plan to win the senate through actual means. Though I’d argue he’s less frustrating than Sinema. The people of Arizona aren’t the same as the people of West Virginia.

We don’t.

And the GQP tactics of stalling seems to always work. If they win back the house it’s going to be impeachment’s and dismantling of the 1/6 commission.

Telling people to outvote the suppression when the boot is already squeezing your neck is not feasible.

We need this legislation passed now, and even with it we still need massive turnout.

How do we plan to win the Senate without D’s from red states, like Mr Manchin?

Launch more grassroots campaigns and stop calling them “red states.” Texas is a state. Go fight for it. Maine is a state. Go fight for it. They fought and won Arizona.

What progressive grassroots campaign is going to win in a +35 Trump state?

Arizona is a swing state trending blue that now has two D senators. West Virginia is not.

You’re missing my point. Fuck West Virginia, it’s a lost cause. Start from the basics there, not the top down. Do better on places that are ripe.

I don’t think “do better” is going to make much of an impact given the rural bias of the Senate and the increasing polarization along educational lines.

Abolish the Senate

I don't see how our government in it's current form is sustainable. Too many bad faith actors within, too much $$$ and special interests, and of course the institutions themselves are outdated.

We're seeing it with this pandemic response that there's two Americas. The Red States continue to defy Federal laws / mandates, all while killing their own for political points for a small racist ignorant base.

Blue states continue to enact laws to try and help (and there'll be miscues too, governing is hard), but you see where the gains are made in the economy, where the virus is contained and you see the divide.

It's a shame because so much suffering is being done by just a handful of governors, with backing by lunatics in Congress.

a good place to start is to stop focusing on things that are neeeeeeeeever ever going to happen. things such as...

Abolish the Senate

... and other silly, never happening things such as "get rid of the electoral college" and "stack the supreme court."

focus on getting something done. "abolish the filibuster" is never, ever happening. so focus on "let's make the filibuster actually be what it was intended to be" again instead. you want to filibuster? okay. let's have mitch and lindsey stand up in front of the senate for 80 hours like jimmy fucking stewart and see how that works out.

focus on things that are doable and not on pipe dreams.

I can’t tell if you’re still missing my point.

“Do better on places that are ripe” is not referring to West Virginia. It’s referring to places like Georgia and Texas and Arizona. If you call them red states, well, they’ll be red states. If you think you can just launch national elections in Texas with dating politicians, you’ll never get anywhere. They’ll remain grassroots red. But they’re close to being perfectly competitive states.

The grassroots West Virginia blue is built upon conservative unioners. It’s a dying thing of the past. Joe Manchin is welcome to be who he is and that’s fine for the people of his state! But he’s not the missing link of progress in this country for the left. There’s tons of untapped political growth in suburbia across many states that succumb easily to red roots.

Ehhh, the House and Senate were meant for different roles. The dual system was a big innovation at the time it was agreed on.
Still works just fine, even though (or maybe because?) we all get a little heartburn along the way.

Has there been any actual crimes committed by Democrats over the last four-five years? I'm sure there has to be something, but shit the amount of projection that turns into reality from the GQP....

Over 200 GQP House Reps voted against the rule of law yesterday. Thankfully Dems have the majority and NINE from the other isle voted Yes.

Now we see if Garland actually prosecutes or what's the point of a subpoena ?
