I do often forget that it was Biden who forced Obama’s hand on same-sex marriage before the 2012 election.

The idea that Biden can’t string together a sentence really helped him truly meet the moment.

The whole thing radiated both BDE, and compassion.

Even tho Biden wasn’t anyone’s top choice in here, he may be the best hope at beating Trump.

Trump has nothing on him. They tried Burisma (and they’ll keep trying). They talk about how Joe’s mind is basically mush, and while he isn’t as sharp as he used to be (and neither will we) tonight’s speech was damn near perfect.

They have nothing to stick on him and Harris so that’s why they’re going to resort to violence.

Violence against the Post Office
Violence against protesters

And tonight Trump said he will deploy his police force to polling stations on election night.

His plan is to fuck up the mail and force people to go out and vote. In the cold, during a pandemic, and then scare people with his force.

It’s going to be brutal but we don’t have any other choice

Yes! I was trying to put my finger on it, and you summed it up.

Meanwhile, in Scranton, Trump spoke to a rally of dozens of people about shower heads, liking KimJong Un, and how California needs to clean the floors of their forests.

So I know that this was a small blip tonight, but after the NH kid thatBiden helped with his stutter (which brought the tears again), the story from the rabbi, where Biden, as a senator, came to a funeral at his synagogue. And it was because the woman that died had given 18 dollars to his first campaign. Just extraordinary.

I have been familiar with Biden for a long time, I always held him in high esteem. I have been pushing for him from the start as the one that would be best to beat Trump. But even so, I had no clue just what kind of man he is. There couldn’t be more opposite souls than Biden and Trump. And it really is what we need right now.

The choice we face is between an imperfect candidate who is an honorable, decent person vs. a steaming pile of human excrement.

Joe Biden truly understands grief and all the pain that comes with it. It's bizarre and hurtful to the grieving person that grief is treated like some shameful dirty secret in this country. We don't talk about death, we don't talk about grief. Move on" get over it". Such offensive terms.

A grieving person can suffer from all kinds of mental and physical health problems, this I know.

Joe Biden possesses real and honest empathy. Trump possesses ZERO empathy, and couldn't even begin to even understand what it is. Because you have to go beyond yourself to do so.

Peters: Are you limited overtime? Is that being suspended?
DeJoy: We never eliminated overtime.
Peters: It's been curtailed.
Dejoy: It's not been curtailed by me or the leadership team.

Every postal employee I've talked to (from coast to coast) disputes this.

DeJoy might want to stop perjuring himself given that Bill Barr may not be AG much longer.

Also, the imperfect candidate is running a pretty flawless campaign so far and has an 8-12 point national lead. And it’s more than stepping back and letting Trump step on takes in the rose garden. The Biden campaign has made no mistakes, and pulled off several not easy things — a VP announcement with genuine suspense, the first ever virtual convention —very well.

I can’t think of anyone else in the D field who would be in such a position in mid-August.

Classic Republican.

DeJoy - The mail delivery is still on time 98% of the time.
Dem Sen. Peters - shows chart showing dramatic slowdown in mail delivery. So has there been a slowdown in delivery?
DeJoy - yes there has been some.

Next Rep Senator - So we can all agree that there has been no slowdown of the mail delivery...

There wouldn't have been anyone in this position at this point. Although Bernie would have been a wild card that I don't think I can say wouldn't have been close. I think Bernie either would have been well behind where Biden is now, or up near where Biden is now. Because i just don't know how the dynamics would have been.
I mean, on the face of it, Biden's strength with seniors, suburban voters and moderate Reps couldn't be matched. Not even close.
I do think Bernie would be doing fine with people of color. His performance in the primary in no way determines what his General Election performance would be. I don't think it would be as high as Biden's with African Americans, but probably higher than Biden with Latinx voters. Obviously Bernie would be killing it with the 35 and unders.

I do think that Trump would have been easily able to label Bernie as being an dangerous radical leftist, that want's to destroy the country. And I think it would have resonated beyond his base.

Joe's success has been that he Trump has not found a way, with 74 days left to go, to define Joe in any negative way. In fact, one could say that him trying to define Joe as a puppet of the radical left, has actually turned off more voters than it has gained.

Unfortunately Pete would be subject to ageism and homophobia, Amy, Warren, Harris would have been subject to sexism, that you can bet would take at least a few points off their board. Sad but true.

Trump blew his Burisma load too early - and even if he hadn't, it's questionable how much it would swing voters at this point. I think that the public takes it for granted that this sort of gross nepotism is a given. And yes, it was gross nepotism at its finest. The other thing is that only MAGA voters who have no concern about hypocrisy would not plainly see that Trump has zero room to call out anyone when it comes to nepotism given that half his family is parading around the White House doing God only knows what.
