I don't know man. As unoriginal as some of them are, "shhh, let's not talk about it anymore" is much worse. besides, since most of them were recently rewritten with Penn State punch lines, it's almost like they're new again!

when i was at (catholic) school, we were told that the Pope was God's representative here on Earth... so, does that mean God's resigned? i actually wouldn't blame him, what with all the stick he gets!

Papal Infallibility (sp?) only became a Catholic doctrine in the 19th century. Before, Popes would go around saying they were infallible from time to time, but they made it a requirement for all Catholics to believe that just as they were starting to lose power over Europe.

I find papal infallibility to be absurd. First off, the pope is human like all of us. Secondly, there is something idolatrous about that. Not that Catholics worship the Pope - we certainly don't - but to say another human being is one step away from God puts him on a pedestal that they don't belong on.

Britain’s highest-ranking Catholic leader resigned and removed himself Monday from the upcoming conclave, saying he did not want allegations that he engaged in improper conduct with priests to be a distraction during the solemn process of choosing the next leader of the church’s 1.2 billion-member flock.
It was the first time a cardinal has recused himself from a conclave because of personal scandal, according to Vatican historians.
The Vatican insisted that Pope Benedict XVI accepted Cardinal Keith O’Brien’s resignation purely because O’Brien was nearing the retirement age of 75 — not because of the accusations.
