The Next Asia is Africa
Quote:
![]() This is great to hear! I remember seeing a BBC report on TV about shopping malls and supermarkets in Accra, Ghana. I was surprised because the media usually focuses on the AIDS epidemic, the civil wars, the massive rapes, and terrible poverty. But there's some hope for Africa, even though it has a long way to go. http://www.theatlantic.com/internati...ors_picks=true |

Africa is an incredible place. I feel very fortunate to have spent a lot of time there two years ago.

There aren't even enough natural resources and centimeters of ozone left on this planet for Asia to become the new US. Let alone for Africa to become the new Asia. But there's definitely potential there.

I once read an article about Ethiopia and other mid-central nations of Africa presenting the existence of massive ores of minerals and other raw materials that are valued in billions of trillions of dollars in the market but yet they remain unexploited, which could provide essential economic activities with the entire geographic region and better life conditions for the majority of local inhabitants
Corruption and brain drain are the main causes of this disparity, many professionals do not have an incentive of staying in Africa and help its development for a wide number of personal reasons. However, this emerging trend of economic development and potential is expected to rise overtime with new nations becoming industrialized, especially in the impoverished areas of Asia, Africa and Latin America. |
