you only believe the earth is round, because you have been told that

can you honestly say that you personally have had a vantage point viewing, that you can say with 100 per cent certitude that it is round?

Vote on Boehner's debt-ceiling plan postponed

Los Angeles Times | July 28, 2011 | 2:37 p.m.

House leaders have postponed a vote scheduled for this evening on the debt-ceiling plan offered by House Speaker John Boehner, an acknowledgement that there are not enough Republican votes to ensure passage.
and he will take down anyone and everyone with him

It's very fucked up-they should get those creepy nun masks too and run all over The Capitol. After all, it's not as if they have any important work to do.

Ben Affleck suggested that they watch The Company Men instead. Good idea.

I'm just so disgusted. And pissed off. And sad. The way things are in this country just makes me very sad.

A lunar eclipse with it's curved shadow of the Earth.

Of course I realize that shadow is just a demon!

But also...remember that when you travel significant distances, the stars in the sky change. And anyone can see that.
Why? Well we know why, don't we?

To the tea partiers, completely shutting down the government until 2012 smells like victory.

More unfortunate words from a Democratic House leader.

"They don’t just want to make cuts, they want to destroy. They want to destroy food safety, clean air, clean water, the Department of Education. They want to destroy your rights."

Way to foster bipartisanship, compromise and civility Speaker Pelosi.

Well, she's dead wrong. The Republicans mainly want to destroy Obama politically. . .all the rest of that stuff is just unfortunate collateral damage.

How are her comments any different from the "liberals/Obama want to destroy America" crap we hear on a routine basis?

BTW: Are the talkingpoints people yours or ours? I always get these groups mixed up.

^ TPM is a liberal site.

(Heh. At first I read "talkingpoints people" as a sarcastic comment about how they all sound the same when they get into apocalypse mode)

Listen to George Carlin talk about the Owners of America. Provocative and, I think, true. The rich own your country and it's getting worse and worse.

Yeah, there have been people harping on this for years and years and unfortunately a lot of them are seen as being on the Far Left. Like Carlin and Ralph Nader. So the message has always been seen by conservatives as simply 'class warfare'.

Hopefully more and more people are starting to wise up.
But I doubt it.

It's not really even 'class warfare'. Rich vs everybody else, Us vs them.
There are lots of rich folks who don't do this shit. But if they have a political axe to grind, they certainly do. It's about corporations and fatcat-funded lobbyists owning almost all political influence. John McCain used to make this same argument before 2008. That's why people like me and Bill Maher supported him in 2000 before Dubya slimed him. And of course, that was before he sold his soul to the Machine to become President in 2008.
