I still don't understand why these restrictions only apply during the last 60-90 minutes of flight time. What about the other 6+ hours or so?

I understand the need for enhanced security, however adding these latest measures just makes the thought of flying completely unbearable. I can easily see where the only people deterred from flying will be regular travelers. Terrorists won't care, they'll simply adjust their plans accordingly.

You know. I just spent some time without pants on. Several days in fact. It's not all it's cracked up to be.

So basically if you're only flying within the U.S. none of these rules apply? Because there could never possibly be a terrorist in the U.S.?

I feel for the poor guy today who caused the "disturbance" on the flight from Amsterdam. ABC News informed me he had food poisoning and couldn't/wouldn't come out of the bathroom, which caused today's kerfuffle.

How embarrassing.

(There is indeed an "explosive" joke to be made here, but I just cannot bring myself to do it.)

Well, next time I have to pee on a flight, I'll just go in the empty can from the drink I got. You can thank me on this board when I'm the reason they change the rules again.

Maybe Depends will take the place of barf bags in the seat pockets. (Although come to think of it, I haven't seen a barf bag on a plane in a long time.)

Well, the in-flight movie is playing then, and no terrorist wants to miss A Night At The Museum.

...

It kind of comes across like a tacit admission that their boarding security procedures aren't up to snuff.

"Okay terrorists, you may get on board, but if you think you're going to crash this plane into a US city, think again. You're just going to have to be satisfied crashing it into the ocean."

From what I understand - in Canada, anyway - these new policies will only be in place for the next week or so. Still ridiculous, though

Too bad SNL is on hiatus, the TSA officials' meeting where they come up with this retarded shit would make a very very good skit.

I can understand the need for increased security, but some of these rules are just barmy.

My next flight will not be until early March, the flight will be short, but getting to the airport extra early and waiting will take longer than the actual flight. Depending on how the security lines are for this particular flight will determine if I drive to Miami in July.

This is just total crap, as have been the last two TSA policies to come out of failed terrorist attacks.

I'll tell you what I'm gonna do. . .take out my magazine again as soon as the flight attendants take their seats.

Ridiculous.

Please don't tell me IFE is Inflight Entertainment meaning the screens for watching movies you get. I don't care if i'm arrested, you will not force me on a 12 hour flight NOT to watch the lastest blockbuster 2 episodes of 30 rock and 2 of family guy. HAVE SOME MERCY! Its th eonly way I get through a flight it to slap on some headphones and pretend i'm all uncomfortable at home.

but seriously, while i understand its scary for the people on the plane, are we now all going to be lynched when getting up from our seat? Have to go pee pee with the door open? Be given a sack full of nutrients to suck up instead of a meal?
Why don't they lower the air pressure in the cabin, knock everyone out, land the plane and wake us up. I think that will solve a lot of problems!

Oh this is so much fun.

There's a lot of ruckus here right now because of airport security. It's a lot of deep shit, apparently the people in charge are rookies who have been on the job in 2 months, and after a year people get kicked out for being 'too expensive'. There's a lot of stuff wrong there....

In-flight security rules eased - Yahoo! News

unsurprisingly (but not soon enough to avoid being a laughing stock), some of the stupid restrictions are going.
