There's definitely been much less coverage of Nigeria in the US media. France is a more comfortable place to report from and, honestly, the corporate media doesn't care about Africans. There won't be any world leaders linking arms for the cameras in Nigeria.

the news was out there for anyone who closely follows current affairs to see, but i guess it just wasn't spamming up people's facebook feeds maybe in the way Charlie Hebdo was...

interesting comments from a Nigerian perspective - perhaps if the leaders themselves had shown more interest and made a big thing of it themselves, that might have brought it more into the international public consciousness faster...

So why, unlike France, have people not taken to the streets – either in solidarity or protest?

One explanation is that they simply do not know what’s going on. “Media is being suppressed in Borno state,” says Ali George, a Nigeria commentator on Twitter. “Nobody knows exactly what is happening there as those with first-hand information don’t have contacts to the media, and the military doesn’t tell you anything close to the truth.”

Doctoral researcher in international development Zainab Usman agrees, adding that the attacks on Baga have not been adequately covered by the Nigerian press. “Local media caught on to the story only after the BBC’s coverage. This is because there’s been ongoing violence in the past year and people are increasingly desensitised.”

It certainly has been covered less here, mostly because France is pretty damn close to us and thus it involves our country more than Africa. The fear factor is getting pretty big. But Nigeria has been covered though on the evening news and in the paper.
Depends on what media you look at I guess.

What can you even say about it? It's disgusting, revolting, the whole shebang.

Nothing to do with Islam right?

Eventually they'll wipe themselves out or leave a group standing to work with.

Christians did the same thing many years ago. We were just lucky they had swords and arrows instead of bombs.

Really don't know what we can do. Muslim community has to solve this, unfortunately they are battling and suffering the worst of it.

NAIROBI, Kenya — Armed terrorists stormed a university in northern Kenya on Thursday, killing 147 people, wounding dozens and taking hostages during a 15-hour siege until four militants were killed by security forces. Christians and converts to Islam appeared to have been the targets.

Terror attack over, 147 dead at Kenya university

They were attacking Christians and converts to Islam?

Is that a typo?
