Since we know who's going to win, instead of election coverage I think we'll watch movies like;

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Soylent Green
Escape From New York
Omen III: The Final Conflict

You know, enjoy them one last time as works of fiction.

I lol'd. ;)

omg.. my stomach is tied up in knots.. i hope we have an answer tonite.

Me too. I woke at 3am this morning and turned the tv on. Morning Joe starts at 3am out here.

Did you guys watch Barack's rally last night on C-span? The last one of the campaign? It was so moving, especially the end and the story the little church lady who started the chant with 20 people way back when.. at the very beginning...Fired up Ready to go and how this has come full circle! It was awesome.

I am so nervous, but hopeful. Really I am.:hyper:

Here is a nice little story and video to inspire you...

The Year of Decision

From TPM Reader JV:

My grandmother voted today. She is 86 years old. A white woman born to hardscrabble cattle ranchers in the most desolate part of New Mexico. Our ancestry goes back through West and East Texas, through Tennessee, the Cumberland Gap, and Virginia. This side of the family rode in the Texas 2nd Cavalry during the Civil War. A dark reminder for me of my family's past, she still has receipts for slaves that our family owned. Her first husband was killed in the Battle of the Bulge, sacrificing his life like so many other young men. My mother was two months old at the time. My grandmother has voted Republican her entire life, but today she voted for Barack Obama.

tell me about it. I'm about to leave in an hour to park off property, take a bus to work, go through secret service security and then have to make my way around the resort with 2000+ members of the press from all over the world, on top of all of the security and everyone else. It's exciting and completely scary at the same time that this is at my work. I get off work about 11:00 tonight but who knows how long it will actually take me to get out of the place.

All my friends I've spoken to today are heading north to Canada if this election goes to McCain. Canada, beware.

If only it were that easy. As much as I would like Obama to win—and I really do—I think the doomsday scenarios put forth by supporters of both candidates are insane. The sun will still rise in the east tomorrow, the world will still spin on its axis, etc. I think a McCain victory is not what the country and the world needs, but it won't be the end of the world.

Didn't know you were still so confident with McCain winning.

I love how 50% of America thinks there's nothing strange about almost 90% of the rest of the world supporting Obama.

That's because the rest of us are socialists.

I just made red velvet cupcakes. Shortly I will slather them in white and blue icing. And write appropriate things on them. Giddy up!

Off to an election partay at 6.

Ive got my whisky and snacks for the wee hours of the morning:hyper:

p.s my new guitar should come in the morning

Ya ya ya...tha's what everyone said in 04 if Kerry wasn't going to win. Besides, this time you don't have to worry - even if the Republican's could steal this election I don't think they will. They know it's Obama's moment - hopefully they'll give him four years (or more) before they come back with a vengeance not seen in our lifetime...or ever for that matter. This peroid we are entering is like a reprieve of sorts...enjoy it while you can.

Well they certainly came back with a vengeance after 8 years of Clinton. And look where that got us.

do you have a John Stewart Gif for every occasion?

I found a bunch this morning. Their sizes are too big to be signatures or avatars :( , so I have to post them where I can

Every time I see this thread title, the Beatles' A Hard Day's Night plays in my head. Make it stop!!

Sorry. :reject:

I agree. When I have found myself getting too worked up over the election (even during the primaries) I would tell myself this, and it does help. I've lived long enough to know for myself that it's true. Am I excited that we may be moving in a direction I think is positive? You betcha!! But I'll live if it doesn't go my way too.

Besides, I doubt Canada would really want me.

And Australia is out too because it sure as hell wouldn't want my aunt (she has downs syndrome and lives with me). :(

At work. Coming up on 10am here. MSNBC seems to be the only live feed I can get online. Everyone here is well into it, TV’s all over the place are tuned in to either CNN or Fox, but with the volume down at the moment. When it starts to heat up a bit we’re all piling into the boardroom and in front of the billion inch LCD in there.

Me and the flat mates are gonna get drunk and throw racist, sexist and ageist remarks around. Its gonna be a blast.

Yeah, uh ..... that sounds great. :uhoh:

I'm distracting myself by watching episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on DVD until anything worthwhile starts happening.

Yeah really we just getting drunk and binging on bacon and chocolate. Good old BBC news
