Wow, really? What a shame.

I know Athletic Park was a total shithole, but I loved it with all the passion a Wellingtonian has for a rugby ground that gets wasted by weather just off Cook Strait and fucks over any visiting team.

I also got to run on the pitch just after they tore down the stands. I had delusions of being Christian Cullen. Who, incidentally, went to the college (Yanks, that's a high school) right behind the primary school I attended. My closest real life brush with any remotely notable person.

That's probably compensation for living in a town whose sporting team is called the Dockers.

THE DOCKERS.

And have you heard their team song? DEAR GOD.

The last few pages are worthwhile, if you can figure out what the hell's going on, just to find out our plan for tonight.

Even better, Joey.

Though in light of your namesake league star, that's absolutely hilarious.

He doesn't actually live in Fremantle.

He lives like 60km south. His bus takes an hour and costs him about $3 for all day usage.

My bus takes an hour and a bit to go 12 kilometres and costs me $10 a day.

AFL team songs make me cringe. Seriously. Except for any variation on Roll Out The Barrels. Which none of them have.

Still, he's got to be compensated for living anywhere near it and working there. I mean, the DOCKERS. Come ON. I can't think of a worse team name, and that's INCLUDING the Auckland Blues and the Auckland Worriers.

My monthly tram pass costs about $52. That's less than $2 a day. Owned, both of you.

And all 5 of their supporters.

Seriously, league and the A-League will own the Gold Coast.

If it wasn't for the new stadium any new AFL team wouldn't get a look in. Oh, and the expat Victorian mayor.

Something about a concert in Lichtenstein? (which always makes me think of that quasi-medieval movie Heath Ledger did)

Hey Jen, Ax, Tourist, et al....

Queenslanders are so unimaginative that the new team will probably also have a ripoff of the French national anthem.

Seriously, at high school, I was in a house nicknamed the Lions, and our team song was Brisbane's/France's anthem, just with the name changed to our house name. LAZY.

No, i think the two new A-League teams are going to be terrible. Gold Coast GALAXY? Northern THUNDER? Fuck off!

Not only is it under $2 a day, you get to ride on trams.

You're forgetting the Gold Coast is a Victorian colony. I think I know more Victorians up there than I do down here.
