U2-influenced guitar players in the Boston area?

I'm an 18 year-old bassist who is very keen on finding a guitar player who can be minimalist and melodic in their playing. I'm in a band right now but the music we create is very garage/classic rock and I really want to make music that is much more in the style of U2 or Coldplay, in that the guitar is used to create ambient, sweeping sounds as opposed to a knock your teeth out rock and roll sound.
