I have few problems with getting good The Edge tone. I have tried everything to get that "Where the streets have no name" sound. I use Stratocaster & Telecaster, Vox AC-30cc2, TC-Electronics G-major, Korg SDD-2000, Line6 Delay modeler, Tube screamer, HBE Power screamer, EBS multicomp, Boss CS3 compressor, MEK CP1 compressor... I wonder how should I setup compressor, and which one should I use from these? Or should I use some distortion in this song? EBS problem is that it is not enough effective I think. MEK is too effective and Boss does not sound good... In which songs Edge uses his Dynacomp? It sounds to me that he has nothing but compressor before delays in WTSHNN. Does he have some big secret in his signal chain?

Other thing: When I use enough treble in my Vox to get good clean sound, sound with overdrive pedal gets too trebly even if I keep tone very low in overdrive pedal. Any ideas to setup Vox´s knobs?

Someone please help me with this. Even small hint could help!

Chances are that if he used his SDD-3000, that machine's pre-amp also colors the sound. And I think for this song he uses the Dyna-comp.

Nice selection of gear you got!

use your SDD2000 with 357ms

not sure about your compressors
but you should maybe sell one or two
and get the mxr Dyna comp an early model
if possible for tone it really does sound
cool on this song ill post a clip using
the older dyna comp ect

chain Strat(2nd pu bridge) Dyna comp->
TS-9(For citys a flood part only)->korg SDD2000
->Vox amp you maybe want to slighty
drive the amp just a bit with grit so maybe
crank the volume if you can or think about
a pedal booster with drive sumthing like
Durhams sex drive pedal or something
simular

get a sound you like from your vox amp when
you plug your guitar in then work effects ect from
there i guess your looking for that sweetspot on
the vox amp and thats a matter of messing
around

good luck .. remember also edge uses herdim
pics reversed for that xtra ching!

Edge uses his TC2290 only for WTSHNN live

clip here strat->dyna comp->ibanez delay->pod xt

Thanks BB Mac! You have very nice sound. That´s the sound I´ve been looking for.
Maybe I should get original old mxr dynacomp... I had once "Dunlop" MXR dynacomp, I think it sounds like Boss CS3. So is there really big difference betweed old and new dynacomps?
What about your compressor and podxt settings?

I´ve been playing with basic tortex picks. I can´t get Herdim in Finland, so is there some picks which are similar? Maybe Dunlop nylon?

Huikki no probs glad to help out

to be honest ive never tried a reissue
dyna comp but from reviews ect a older
one is better sounding :) mines is from
1981 ..i did have sum yamaha and boss
compressors years ago the boss CS-3
but the older dyna works well for the
Edge stuff

my dyna settings are output 5oclock
sensitivity 9oclock (and sumtimes i change
this to 7oclock playing live

the pod xt is the 'Streets' preset that
you get on it but just slighty tweaked
but these pods are more suited for recording
rather than through a amp ..you could still
use the effects but since you have a real vox
Amp no need for the pod xt sim your SDD2000
should work great its all really about messing
about trying things out 'trial and error' really

about the picks to be honest im not 100% sure
these herdims im using ive had for many years
so i need sum new ones myself!
i think there is certain dunlop ones that would
work so maybe sumone can chime in on the
forum and let you know

cheers BB
