NEW vs OLD

I was just wondering what fellow "musicians"( i use that term in the broadest sense) preference was given a choice. A vintage bashed but original guitar (fender or gibo) or would you prefer a brand new shiny one. I prefer bashed and worn older one any day. I think they have more chatracter and prob play better. Lets assume for the purpose of this thread that they have similar qualities.

It all depends on the tone. The vintage gear looks cool but there is still alot out there that is crap. If you are going to play it, it is going to get scratched, belt marks, etc. get whatever sounds best

I had a SRV Strat back in the mid 90's that I took off all the laquer, and beat the crap out of it. It looked great. Still kind of sorry that I traded it in.

Now I try to keep my vintage gear looking good and allow my newer stuff to be abused. I have a 1990's VOX AC30 that most poeple see it and think it has to be a 60's model. It has character.
