My Beautiful Day cover

Hi. I was playing around with my guitar and Cubase and decided to do a cover of Beautiful Day. It's essentially just me playing along with the backing track from the U2 Patch Archive (http://u2recording.tripod.com/backing.html)

My setup is Ibanez EX Series -> POD XTL -> PC

I took some liberty with the guitar effects, trying to create my own interpretation, but still hold true to the original. I think that I used about 5 different guitar sounds. For the verse, I used the VOX AC-30 with delay. For the chorus I used two channels the Plexi Jump Lead with Chorus & the MS-Diamondplate. I don't remember what the others were.

I realize that I made a mistake here or there (especially the 2nd chorus), but I was getting tired.

cheers for the email.

Sounds pretty good.

I think perhaps the distortion on the chorus isnt quite right and the guitar part when bono sings...'ddaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy' isnt quite quick enough, sounds like the delay is slightly wrong?

Otherwise, very good. Better than what I could do!

Thanks for the comment.

As far as I know, the delay speed is supposed to be 1/4 notes, which is what I set it to. Maybe I didn't dial in the tempo properly.

As far as the distortion in the chorus, I was taking artistic liscence and trying to improve on U2's sound (if that were possible). I'm actually using 2 channels with a different amp sound in each channel.

I love it. It's good that during these "slow u2 news days" there is someone keeping us interested. Keep it up. How about "streets", anything on that, the greatest u2 song?

I thought it sounded great. I liked the tone of the distortion.
