good luck!

Nice job.

I just gave the live version of LAPOE a listen, and it doesn't sound like there's a major 3rd (F#) in the verse part. It sounds like its just drop D power chords. So maybe its:

*****************************
Verse

D |----------------------------------------|
A |----------------------------------------|
F#|----------------------------------------|
D |-----------0------3-3--0---------5--5---|
A |-----------0------3-3--0---------5--5---|
D |-----------0------3-3--0---------5--5---|

Lay down your treasure. . . Lay it down now. . .
*****************************

Also, the "I need some release" part is composed of octave chords and not just straight notes. So I believe its:

*****************************
D |----------------------------------------------
A |----------------------------------------------
F#|-5------7-------9-------12---11--7--5----
D |----------------------------------------------
A |-3-------5-------7-------10---9----5--3---
D |-----------------------------------------------

etc.

I need some release. . .
*****************************
What do you think?

PS Sorry for my crappy ASCII tab technique

Looks like I made a mistake with the octave chord thingy. The tab can't be right in open D tuning. Live, it looks like he's playing standard octave chords (with the index and pinky fingers) as if it were in standard tuning. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Where did you get the idea that it was tuned this way? I would guess it's just dropped d tuning. Anyway the slide part is wrong with your tuning. I don't know what open d tuning would do for the song, other than the low d, so i'd guess it's just dropped d.

If you listen to the song, the D Chord he plays is lower in pitch than any you can pull off in standard. The open D works very well.

the slide part is not wrong in the tuning. the top 2 strings are the same as in regular tuning, just a step down

It's right if it's in dropped d but not open d. I think the tuning should be D,A,D,G,B,E not D,A,D,F#,A,D. You can still play the d-chord with the low d, and I don't see any other reason to tune it differently. Could be wrong, though, since I haven't tried it.

i believe his tab is right.....nice going..sounds awesome

its not drop d tuning, he tunes down everything a full step.

D
A
F
C
G
D

and then plays that main riff like this:

F------------9/12-----9/7/6/7
C------------x---------x--------
G------------7/10-----7/5/4/5
D------------0 (keep ringing thru riff)

just sslide like written and it sounds pretty close to me.
