Can anybody share their opinion on how much I could expect to pay for an SDD-3000 delay? Any details that would make one more valuable than another (serial no. Date of manufacture. Original accessories etc...). Any info would be greatly appreciated.

To be clear I'm interested in info about the original Korg rack unit, not a clone of the preamp. Thanks in advance.

The last 2 that I have seen on ebay sold for over £500 - They are not easy to come by & unless they have been serviced expect problems as they are full of capacitors that will have leaked with age!

Slemmons in the U.S. is the master at serviceing & bringing these units back to life! If you are buying a unit that has been serviced/repaired by them then the price can rise to £800+

I paid £490 for mine & then had to spend another £100 to get it working properly! But as this delay unit is one of nicest sounding units ever it was worth it!

Sdd 3000,

I PAID £530 for mine and so far it's seem's ok, Steve where abouts did you get yours serviced here in the UK??
Another alternative is a Korg SDD 200 and a add-3kp pre-amp pedal from Dave at Trabantland, you can pick-up SDD 200'S fairly easy on eBay and with the pedal it stacks up to about £350, not bad for the best delay sound in the world (in my humble opinion)

And it's a "KORG SDD-2000" my typing is shocking today!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry!!!!!!

Hi Chris
My SDD3000 was in a right state when I got it:drool: It worked badley for 1 day & then died!!
A fellow guitarist friend of mine has is own business Godden & Curtis is Sherborne Dorset UK & he is unbelievable when it comes to electronics & excels when it comes to guitar related gear!
He practically re-built the power board in mine & then replaced all 16 caps & a few resistors that had also gone bad, He also traced all the voltages to make sure evrything was correct throughout & finally added a new battery.

He is also a great amp tech & owns alot of vintage amps himself! He has worked on all of my amps in the past & is currently bringing my 1968 Marshall Plexi head back to life!

He can be contacted at simonjonbeard@googlemail.com or send me a PM & I will give you his phone number!

Thanks a million for that Steve, it's great he got yours tip top again, I will be contacting him about a possible service, a "1968 Plexi" WOWWOWWOW, that is a bona-fide "Holy Grail" of an amp you are a lucky fella I would love to just have a look at one let alone own one of those badboys' along with a 64 AC30 and a 59 Bassman a Plexi is the sound, all the Hendrix, Clapton, Paige and just about every other classic tone I love comes from that era of amp, you have got real taste brother

Dare I say it - I have two Chris! I've owned my early 1968 JMP50 Plexi head for a fair few years now which Simon has allready serviced & I have just picked up a late 1968 Plexi Super Bass 100 head which is what Kossoff was famous for using! Alot smoother for guitar than the 1959 SLP but not that much different. I love my 1963 AC30 but I must admit that I love old Marshalls & tend to lean more on them than anything else!

What can I say Steve, keep hold of them!!! You have a collection most would die for, these things are pieces of rock and roll history, if your numbers came up on Saturdays Lotto draw there is a 1959 'Burst for sale on eBay that is owned by J' Geils for sale a cool $250,000 that would sound like heaven through any one of your tone machines, do you have them insured! I would, have you tried your "Edge Set-up" through these, sdd, tc2290 ect,

Yes! They are insured, House is Alarmed & Connected to a call centre/Police & I have 4 CCTV Cameras!!!

My Rack is set up so I can send the signal to either the Marshall or the AC30 or both!
Most U2 Stuff I used to just run the AC30 but lately I am running it together with the Marshall aswell only with it a bit lower in the mix!
It adds more depth to the overall sound - I must one day get around to loading my JMI AC30/4 with 1 Alnico & 1 Greenback to see if it produces a simular result:hmm:

Glad to hear you are well covered!! I bet Edge has used a good variety of vintage Marshall's over the years can you imagine the gems he has stored away at "U2HQ" Going back to yours, you mentioned Koss, I think he had one of the greatest tones of that era and it must be a thrill to be able to get close to it, I would love to have some vintage amps, people always seem to lust after vintage guitars but for me that's only 50% of the story, the sound of a classic broken in tube amp is the sound we all want to hear, I could afford a vintage Marshall/Vox/Fender if I wasn't spending all my money going to Las Vegas to get Married?????????? who knows I might win at the casino then I will be going shopping!

The JMI AC30/4 Is a beautiful amp as well, I had a play on a JMI re-issue AC30 (not vox)
Amp at "MusicGround" here in Leeds a few years ago, beautiful, a lot of pro's seem to use them and leave there vintage AC30's at home, maybe one day steve you might be able to post a few photo's of your set up on here I'm sure your rig will appeal to everyone not just Edge devotee's.

Hi Chris
There are some pictures in the "Post Your Rigs" Thread a few posts below - Page 19.
I have sold some of the assorted Marshall small box project amps & the PA20 since these pics were taken & not pictured are my recent purshases of a 1969 4x12 & of course the Super Bass 100 plexi.

My JMI (Music Ground Amp) is pictured with a Vox logo on it which has since been removed & the JMI logo re-installed.

They are great amps, Allthough not as warm sounding as an original, Mine was built in late 2009 by Steve Giles who has since left the company due to a disagreement over quality control.

Music Ground produce some nice stuff but they are also well known for there fraudulent activities!!! & recent conviction for handeling stolen goods!

Hi Steve, you sound like you have one serious collection!, I used to love MusicGround in Leeds, I bought a good few guitars from them, they were pretty kind to us "Lefty's" I got my Martin jm acoustic from them a nice SG standard and a 68 re-issue "Hendrix" Strat, I then paid for a "Tokai Explorer" then I went back to the shop to pick it up and they had closed down!!!!!!!!! I eventually tracked it down' the shady world of "Rock'n'Roll" but I do miss the store and some of the fellas.

Answer to the original question though, Steve is right, I have seen a Korg SDD-3000 With original box and manuals in tip-top condition on sale for about £800-900!!! Korg will never re-issue these as the cost today to reproduce one would probably put it up there with an "AXE-FX" there would still be a market but not a lot of people would want to pay £2K for a delay! does anyone know how many units were made!

WOW, Steve had a look at your photo's, you have an amazing collection, those Strats and Marshalls are out of this world' there is some serious wonga going on there, I bet when you do a studio session people are all over them like a rash or do you leave your babies at home!!!!

Hi Steve, I saw your "Post your Rigs" photo's, amazing, beautiful collection you got there, the Strats are out of this world, they must have taken some getting, I would die for a vintage Lefty Strat, a 62 or 63 would be my dream guitar, I am still looking for a lefty late 70's Black Strat the same as Edge's that would do me, hopefully I will come across one one day when I am felling Flush!

Hi Chris, Its about 20 years worth of collecting! I used to have many more Strats but in the last 2 years I have sold off a fair few, 2 x 63's, A late 62, An early 1960 & others that included a 71, 73, 77 & a 82
I'm still considering selling another one of my 62's & a 63 Jazzmaster but as the selling market is pretty bad at the moment I may just hang on to them.

Late 70's Strats can be a real pain to find when it comes to getting one with a reasonabe weight! I've had several over the years due to my Edge fascination but finally found a 77 a few years ago that really did it for me! Until that one came along I aways favoured my Japanese re-issue & if I'm honest still do!

I guess you are pretty up against it choice wise being left handed.

Hi Steve,
I had a look at your "Post your Rigs" photo's! all I can say is what a beautiful collection you have, the vintage strats just blew me away, I am hoping one day to track down a late 70's black (Lefty) Strat like Edge's, No wonder your place is a secure as "Fort Knox" do you still take them out on the road or do they stay at home!!!! it must be a great thing knowing you have the right tools for the job, Ace!

The truth.

The real reason I was asking about the value of SDD-3000 is that I have one to sell. Right now I'm looking for $900 ppd/shipped in CONUS. I'll consider international shipping.
