What else really besides mod delay? All the stuff on Boy was basically his Gibson Explorer and Memory Man Deluxe analog echo into an AC30. During Popmart used some kind of phaser effect on IWF which sounded cool!

As mentioned: Explorer > EH Deluxe Memory Man > Vox AC30
BBC 1981 1982 RED ROCKS 1983 DORTMUND 1984 Now? Seems to be nothing more than, Gibson Explorer > Korg SDD3000 delay > Vox AC30 amp. Other times? He's used the yellow Fender Clapton Stratocaster during Love Town tour. ROTTERDAM JAN 1990 DUBLIN DEC 1989 And he used a Les Paul Custom and some flanging effect on Popmart. So there's basically no drive coming from a pedal/rack unit? All drive comes from AC30?

Overdrive now? It's possible. But Edge can get it with Guitar > Delay and Amp. And as there are multiple amps with different settings... it's possible it's still Guitar > Delay > Amp |

My guess would be fa-1 into vox sdd set to 216ms and volume controlled via the tc 2290 output stage.Fa-1 seems to clean up at around 6/7 on the guitar just right for the harmonic section and at full pelt it gives you that nice stinging tone like the Milan version of I will Follow

Also seems to be used with Strats not so much with Explorer. If he's using a boost for IWF these days, I think that there is a better chance are more that it is the Durham Sex Drive as it's a transparent boost. |

I would agree with you but edge isnt using the fa-1 as a boost thats where the sex drive comes in......
__________________I have the fa-1 and when used with Edges settings it is incredibly loud thats why he uses the tc 2290 to control the volume of the beast. This little pedal is very versatile and dynamic. I have noticed over the years that when Edge uses this pedal the tc 2290 output stage is very low and too quiet to be used on its own. eg with or without you is set to 70 output..... I would put a firm bet that the fa-1 is used far more than you think and dont be fooled that its just used as a boost......Also i believe that the fa-1 is used for the main sound for New Years Day and this song is played with the cream Les Paul. Notice the difference in tone from Slane to Chicago this could be due to Edge rolling back the volume on the LP or the Fa-1s volume had been rolled back by mistake but Chicago,s tone isnt very aggressive unlike Slane.... I dont mean to offend anybody but these are my views ![]() |
