Guitar Tones on POP?

I think the textures of the tones on that album are nuts!! What kind of effects is the edge using on songs such as "Gone" or "Mofo"?

The high squeals on Mofo and high notes on Gone are from a pitch shifter. The effect transforms the sound upwards by 2 octaves. It was also used on the intro of Even better then the real thing. The actual device is a Digitech Whammy 1. Which is currently rereleased again. For some €210 where I live.
