Well it won't effect the sound a fretboard is a fretboard, Edge likes the maple fretboard's almost all of his strat's are maple. he has one rosewood. But it all comes up to what you like!

yes but
"a fretboard is a fretboard" , yes but try a maple and a rosewood with same guitar and same effect, you will be surprise by the difference.....

I've never been able to distinguish a sound difference with different fretboards.
