Thats a nice list, but isn't Edge using rickenbacker 360/12? I don't know what the difference between 330 and 360 is but I've seen 360 always!

I got a Rattle and Hum movie book for graduation, and it has all guitars listed and amps and effects and such.. that's pretty hot!
 
Well, he busted one of them during the Elevation Tour, but I forget which one that was.

well, if you mean the rickenbacker 360/12 fireglo he used during gone and smashed on the ground during the Boston concert, it survived....
 
The Jetglo 360/12 in the Boston video was borrowed after The Edge tossed the Fireglo to the stage floor.

Boston GuitarWorks sent it over. They sent a few for him to try and borrow.

The original Fireglo (R&H throught the Elevation tour, drowned/was destroyed in the flood that they had at Hanover Quay, whilst U2 were playing the SuperBowl show in 2002.

The 1967 330/12 Fireglo was replaced. Edge got the 1965 330/12 Fireglo for standard tunings (Sometimes You Can't Make It...).

He got the 1966 330/12 mapleglo for E-Flat tunings (Mysterious Ways - Also seen in the mimed performance of Window in the Skies on Japanese TV.

There is at least one other 33/12 Fireglo as a backup and a Jetglo 33/12 backup.

The Edge has picked up at couple more Rickenbackers - 6-string models - when in Chicago a few months back.

Gibson Les Paul Standard: "Always"
- To the best of my knowledge, he doesn't have a Les Paul Standard. Unless you are thinking of the Gibson 30th Anniversary Gold Top.

Discotheque" (Was recorded with a Telecaster)
- I am not sure that is true. The main Discotheque guitar part was actually an acoustic through some effects. It was mentioned in an interview; might have been the Sept `97 GW interview.

Fender Jaguar: "Electrical Storm", "If You Wear That Velvet Dress"
- Nope. The Jaguar was not used for "Velvet Dress

Gretsch Country Gentleman: "City of Blinding Lights", "Miss Sarajevo", "Please", "One Tree Hill" (Vertigo Tour), "Do You Feel Loved", "Mothers of the Disappeared", "The Wanderer"
- The Wanderer was played on a Country Gent for the tribute to Johnny Cash in 2005 but I am not certain it was used for the album version.
- It was used for Mothers of the Disappeared (LIVE) during PopMart but not on the album.
- I am not so sure it was used for Miss Sarajevo.
- It (One of the various Country Gents he's owned) was used for the recording of KITE

- I am 00.9 % sure it was not a LP Classic. Maybe one of the two LP Customs or his Gold Top Standard.

- I saw the first time they played it live, in San Diego on 14 April 1987. =O) I am pretty sure the all black (1973 - me thinks) Strat was used.

wikipedia says beautiful day was recorded with a LP Classic, and since Always is an early version of that, I assume it was.

You 100% sure there? I think there is some. Like Lemon and other tunes, alot of the Zooropa era guitars do not sound like guitars.

I say: I only offered the corrections to your list, not to argue but to help you. But you seem to be a bit... negative to the idea of corrections.

For the sake of clarity, it does change what you said. You said it was a T-5 and it isn't. And in truth, it could have been a Gibson J200 or a Taylor acoustic.

For the sake of fact, a T-5 is more of an electric and not an acoustic guitar.

I am sorry that my offering some corrections seems to have upset you to the point of your answers back being a bit... snippy.

PLEASE HELP ME...

I had this debate with a friend of mine in the pub yesterday, and now I'm all confused! Could someone please straighten things out for me, please?

We discussed The Edge's 79 all black Strat with maple neck he used in the Gloria vid and on the WAR tour. My mate claimed that Edge replaced the standard pickups for Seymomur Duncan pickups. Is this true?

Does anybody know which SD pickups he uses, instead?

Did he replace all three pickups or just one?

Is the black on black Strat from the GLORIA vid the same one he used when shootin STREETS on the rooftop?

The general consesus about Edge's old black Strat from the 80's is that he kept the neck and middle pickups stock, but replaced the bridge pup with something hotter. Some say either a rewound DiMarzio FS-1 or Seymour Duncan Quarterpound, but most most seem to agree on the FS-1. That old Strat wasn't seen again after the second leg of the Joshua Tree tour. However, he started using the current black and white Strat around that time, so perhaps it's been the same guitar all along, just with a white pickguard, pup covers, etc., and possibly some other mods. Who knows for sure except for Edge himself!
 
PopMart was only about 27-30 guitars... I think it was around 37-40 on the Vertigo tour. Not that all were used each night. Some are song specific (The red SG being used for Elevation alone). But there are buckups for each guitar. (Edge has a Pelham blue SG as a backup to the red SG)
