well i read that he changed up the parts for the 2010 leg of the tour so he decided on using the strat. i guess sound reasons.

It is easier to tell what guitars were used in live shows, by looking at the video evidence on YouTube, DVDs and shows we attend.

As for a list of what was used in the studio? We were not there! How could we know, other than things that Edge or Dallas have mentioned in interviews.

That said, there is more than one guitar track on most songs. And there is also more than one guitar used on most songs.

Case in point... in the studio, one of the U2.com clips showed Edge playing a tobacco Fender Telecaster for "Magnificent". Yet live, the Gretsch Country Gent works better. It might be that the Telecaster was used for most of the studio recording but the Gent works better for the slide bits.

Second: Walk on was a Les Paul for most of the song but the solo, per The Edge, was his original Gibson Explorer.

Another example of multiple guitars in the studio is "Kite".

It was one of the Les Paul Customs for the most part but the solo was one of the Gretsch Country Gentleman's and an Ampeg Scrambler.

So since there is footage of Edge playing "Pride..." in the documentary, that is what ended up on the album version?\

Maybe yes. Maybe no.

Keep in mind that in "It Might Get Loud", Edge can be seen playing "Get On Your Boots on his Cherry SG and on a Country Gent. Did one, the other or both make the final version? Uncertain.

And in that, it is possible that bit I saw of Edge playing the Tele on Magnificent might not have made the final.

And... on the otherhand... it could be that there are different guitars used for different guitar parts on the tunes. (This is probably more likely than most have considered)

Any chance of updating this list? I would, I know the makes of most guitars, but I'm not good with years/model names, etc.

One thing I can add to this list is that the 72 Custom Les Paul WAS in fact used on the song Zooropa during Zoo TV. He really loved that guitar back then! I was able to spot it on a YouTube video of the song from one of the Wembley gigs.
