An Tele Dubh (The Black Tele) - Pittsburgh "...Boots"?

Others pointed it out in another thread... An Tele Dubh? Interesting. I haven't seen Edge with this one before.

Investigators hat on... I hope to find a few better high quality shots to see more of the detail in the guitar. As Edge likes 1960's Tele's, this could be from that era. But more pics / evidence needed.

I asked a friend if she had any other pics of this from the Pittsburgh show.

Is it black? Or could it be charcoal? In the lighting on some of the pics the finish looks a bit lighter than black. But maybe just trick of lighting?

Thanks to BonoComet for sending these over.

Where did you get that info?

We won't know until we get a way better pic. E_O is right as always :D light's can play tricks.

Not always right. But I'd rather see more pictures to make a better determination.

I think Rockhound just likes to argue with me. (LOL - Just messing with you Rockhound).

But it is the chat, the debate, the "dreaded speculation", the talking about it that helps us all learn. So no harm in that.

It could very well be the black 1974. It also might be charcoal or blue.

Whatever the case, it is cool when he does break out something different. I'm hoping to find a few more photos and some decent video footage.

Most of the time....

I remember pictures of Edge's Charcoal Clapton Stratocaster. One dude was INSISTING it was black.

The guy kept emailing pictures from the inside of the Achtung Baby CD and photos from Musician magazine.

He forgot that Anton Corbijn filters the shit out of things; and does some heavy effects on his work.

So while it may "appear" black in Anton's photos...

...We know from the tour photos and video... It's actually charcoal.

PS: You can see the 'snake/skeleton" painted charcoal Clapton Stratocaster in the video bit of "Wild Irish Rose".

This video of "Wild Irish Rose", which was made in 1989. it was used in the Irish TV broadcast of 'Sound And Vision - The Influence Of Irish Music', which is better known as 'Bringing It All Back Home' -- Check at around 1:56 into the video.

Wish I'd got a few better pics for ya Edge-O! I sometimes am not thinking too clearly when in close proximity of U2. :shifty:

This list was in a article called the edgecsetup revealed and in list is mentioned a black telecaster, not a blue. This lisr is the guitar taken for the tour.

It is possible that it could indeed be the 1974 that was mentioned in the Oct 2009 Music Radar Online article.

And while a black Telecaster is mentioned in the article and not a blue, this doesn't preclude from the possibity that one was bought during the tour. Particularly as they'd just been in Nashville.

I am not saying that it is 'definitely not black' or that it is the 1974 Tele mentioned in the article. It is possible. But I don't know that I've seen enough decent photos to show that it 'definitely is'.

Dallas does usually stop by Gruhn's in Nashville, when in the area. (There are other guitar shops that he routinely checks during the tour).

And the article being cited is from October 2009. Things can change in 22 Months.

Case in point, Edge had a new Line 6 guitar delivered while in Anaheim. It wasn't used on the tour, that I know of. But yet, that was a case of an addition during the tour.

And while U2 were on the last week of the tour, Dallas was told of a Les Paul Custom at Guitar Center Hollywood, which he subsequently paid for/bought and had shipped around the time of the last two shows. (Was told that by a friend at the GC Hollywood Vintage room). This being another show of the Music Radar Online list being what was on the tour in October 2009 but that things have been added.

You mean his Custom Red/Black Variax 700, which he used for "The Fly" on the Vertigo tour. He was only seem jamming with that in Fez, but no word or guarantee it actually ended up on the album.

I know I just thought it was cool he was still playing it. We dont know which guitars ended up on the album. I don't think we ever will. "Boots" we don't know for sure it could have been the SG or the Gent and of course the Tele.

Really he got a new line 6? Which one? I know he still used his other line 6 during the "No line" sessions which i thought was cool.

Edge's lates Line 6 guitar is an electric model; Line 6 JTV-69.

Friend of mine took this picture a few days after he received it. I didn't see any clips of him using it at any of the remaining 360 shows. It will be interesting to see if it shows up on the next album and how it's used.
