Imagine waking up one day and realizing that it was Paul McG who knew how to walk out on top

Considering all the rake stepping that’s happened since his departure, P McG looks better and better.

The birdie was also drunk, so hey, could be total bullshit.

It’d be 3, which makes even more sense with Larry out…

It's interesting that people would jump straight to blaming Bono, when the guy who is sitting out is well known to be a bit of a grump, who used to go around telling people to fuck off and die.

i think I'd rather deal with a grump rather than someone who thinks american soul is a song worth talking about in his autobiogrpahy

While it would be sad,I would be entirely comfortable with the band continuing on without Larry. Must be tiresome having to convince someone to go out on tour every time.

Maybe he could just be in the studio and have someone else go out on tour?

It's all speculation until laurence decides to actually speak to someone and clarify all this.

That is the obvious compromise if it’s solely about being willing/able to tour. If there’s something deeper going on, however…

Of course all this is possible, but this conversation is twisting and taking on new threads with no actual new information coming to light. The last we heard on the issue was the deeply connected U2songs saying that it was a surprise that he wasn’t playing when the announcement was finally made because there were thoughts he might get there with his recovery.

U2Songs also had a run of absolute stinkers in the lead up to both SOS and The Sphere.

So perhaps not as deeply connected as they'd like us to believe

Weren’t most of those stinkers able to be put down to some believable indecision/changing minds of the band though? The 17 March release date was known well in advance of an announcement and the sphere, Larry and new album comments came through around the same time.

They thought the Vegas show was going to be titled SOS Baby.

They guessed that Larry was in because the fake U2 they brought to Columbia included a Larry - which was information a lot of people had.

They had the release date in 2022 wrong by, oh, 5 months.

He's a fan. A fan who knows other fans, some of whom get inside info from time to time. Some members here are more informed. They just don't have their own "news" site.

Generally sure - he does a really good job. But he's not an insider.
