Really strong album. I don't think it has a song better than NLOTH's best three songs but overall I love it. Another new sound for them but still a true U2 album.

...really surprised Iris isn't #1 on everyone's list. IMO, it is the clear-cut masterpiece on the album.

--little bit of context: I LOATHED this album the first several listens to the point of actually being depressed about it--but it has really grown on me to where I now love the record. I separated the first three as I feel these are the instant classics. I also separated Volcano and Miracle from the rest of the pack. I like Volcano, but I still haven't fully connected with it (I noticed it got a number of #1 votes, so I haven't given up on it). Miracle is the one song that I'm just not sure about it--It's not a bad song by any stretch, but something about it bugs me.

“Every Breaking Wave” - Impossible not to love
“California (There Is No End To Love)” - Very catchy, easy to sing along too
“Iris (Hold Me Close)” - Fresh feeling but reminiscent of 2 other decades aswell
“The Troubles” (Feat. Lykke Li) - Solid track, modern
“Sleep Like A Baby Tonight” - the album much needed a track like this; great
“Volcano” - not sure what to say right now, but i like it
“This Is Where You Can Reach Me Now” - also what the album needed, fresh
“Song For Someone” - grows on me every listen!
“Cedarwood Road” - very well done track, classy
“Raised By Wolves” - its a good track, not sure what else to say
“The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)” - good track, but everything else is better

After 13 listens, very hard to rank, there really isn't much in it!
They can all switch around very easily.

Have listened about 12-15 times. Gave it a break and came back to it. I'm sure about Iris at the top but Troubles and Sleep are really close at 2 and 3. RBW is a solid 4. I can't see myself bumping another track into this top 4 but I guess it's possible, I know alot of people have redone their rankings.

Middle tier drops off for me, those 3 are not as good, but I enjoy all of them. The bottom tier is pretty cut and dried in my opinion, I don't see any of those moving up a tier. I skip California regularly and Reach is heading that way - the whole Halloween sound and 70's base groove just keeps getting more and more cheesy. I do like the Monkey Man intro though. Lyrics on bottom tier are not on par with upper levels, and there's other issues as well...

Cedarwood Road is growing for me. I love the solo and the glockenspiel/xylophone whatever. I'm drunk on Belgian beer. :drunk:

I really like Raised by Wolves. I just like other songs more. That's a pretty freaking awesome "worst track." Wow. Really great record, U2ers.

I feel like more than some albums, there is really no consensus about the best songs. I keep seeing particular songs as the very top on some people's lists, and the very bottom for others.
