I listened to it again with headphones before bed, and I'm really liking it more and more.

California will likely move up in my rankings.

Song For Someone is definitely my least favorite here.

Cedarwood Road might be one of those ones that the more I listen to it, I'll either come to love it, or get really tired of it really fast. It's interesting.

I think Cedarwood is going to suffer the fate of a devided fan opinion and the most likely track for a handful of us to be pissed that they're not playing live during their tour.

1) Sleep Like A Baby
2) The Troubles
3) Raised By Wolves
4) This Is Where You Can Reach Me Now
5) Cedarwood Road
6) The Miracle (I actually think this would've been better placed in the middle or near end)
7) Every Breaking Wave (probably their only possible hit here)
8) Iris (I love the ghostly atmospheric background, but some parts are just way too U2-ey)
9) Volcano
10) Song for Someone 11) California - I don't know which one I dislike more

You're improving. I'll give you a couple of days more until you get to Pop.

LOL, I love POP (and the last 3 songs) but still wish they had included North and South of The River and Holy Joe (or I'm Not Your Baby) instead of Miami and Playboy Mansion.

Tier A++:
- Sleep like a baby tonight
- Cedarwood Road
- Iris
- Every Breaking Wave

Tier A+:
- Raised By Wolves
- The Troubles
- Song For Someone

Tier A:
- Volcano
- This Is Where You Can Reach Me now
- California

Tier A-:
- The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)

so all in all :hyper:

Better idea, keep Playboy Mansion, nix If God Would Send His Angels.

I've always loved I'm Not Your Baby, would've been great after Mofo.

Heard a lot of comments yesterday that the 2nd half is better than the first 1/2, but SFS is an understated monster and EBW is pure radio bliss.

1. Iris (Hold Me Close)
2. This is Where You Can Reach Me Now
3. Sleep Like a Baby Tonight
4. Volcano
5. Raised By Wolves
6. The Troubles
7. Every Breaking Wave
8. Song for Someone
9. The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)
10. California (There is no End to Love)
11. Cedarwood Road

No. The first two tracks are the weakest, imo, and the album rapidly gets darker, wilder, better after that. No lack of love for Cedarwood road here, that intro is

I agree with you. I wonder if the album was re-arranged if people's impressions would be different, starting off with the rockers and mixing in the more poppy songs.

Makes me excited for Songs of Experience. Hoping for a darker tone throughout. Paired with this new clean, refreshed sound. It could be crazy good

Alright, so it's been over a day and I thought I'd have a crack at it with a few more listens under my belt. Here's mine currently...

01. The Troubles
02. Sleep Like a Baby Tonight
03. The Miracle
04. Every Breaking Wave
05. This is Where You Can Reach Me
06. Raised by Wolves
07. California
08. Cedarwood Road
09. Song for Someone
10. Volcano
11. Iris

Tracks 6-11 on here are slowly sinking in with me a bit more, so I could easily see them moving around or going up over time. Otherwise, like it's been said a hundred times already, it's hard to find a true clunker among the 11. Will be interesting to see how the extra tracks next month factor into people's opinions too.

A few listens in, and here is my ranking

1. Every Breaking Wave
2. The Troubles
3. Iris
4. Raised By Wolves
5. Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
6. Song For Someone
7. This Is Where You Can Reach Me
8. Cedarwood Rd
9. The Miracle
10. Volcano
11. California

It should be noted that songs 2-6 are all close for me, as are 7-10. The only songs I'm adamant about, funnily enough, are #1 and #11...and I really don't see that changing anytime soon.

If included, Invisible would be #3

I like reading these lists, lots of variation. I like all the songs, and my list will definitely change in the next months. Each tier they are so close, I couldn't differentiate. Iris is the standout to me, and was on first listen. I think there are 6-8 really good to great songs, the bottom is still pretty good, much better than NLOTH.

Sleep Like a Baby Tonight, Cedarwood Road, EBW, Song for Someone
