After a year...what do you think about NLOTH?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Fez-Being Born remains my favorite NLOTH track, with the title track coming in 2nd, Breathe 3rd.

SUC remains the worst piece of shit ever.

I'm still loving it. I listen to it almost daily at work.
Fez makes my heart literally soar. :hyper:
I still get chills when I hear MOS and Magnificent is just that.
Can't even begin to tell you how much I love WAS and Cedars.
I tend to skip over SUC but I don't hate it or Boots.
I have multiple versions of Crazy and No Line and added them to the playlist.
So yeah, NLOTH still doing it for me.

I still really like NLOTH. It's so beautiful and I think it's a good thing that it's not easy to "get"; that means it has some depth to it.

After a year, Fez Being Born is still a useless throwaway outtake.

SUC still, well, SUCks

Cedars bores me to tears still.

The other songs still range from great to downright brilliant.

My opinions on the album haven't changed much at all, really.

I think it stands up against some of their best work. It's gone down from the #3 slot I had it at, though, it's now at #6 or #7.

In my opinion Cedars, Fez, Magnificent, NLOTH and MOS are brilliant, deserving to be rated the same as some of U2's best. SUC is my least favourite U2 song ever, the rest are decent enough but nothing special by U2's standards.

I think that they massively compromised on what the album could have been with GOYB, CT and SUC- either side of those tracks are great- they really break up the flow of the album.

such a shame they felt compelled to try and write a "hit" rather than go with the flow of the other songs. that said it is still my favourite U2 album since AB/Zooropa era

I fully agree. Also, if I replace SUC with winter (brothers vers) it makes the album sooo much better. It gets rid of the piece of poop that is SUC and also helps keep some of the flow going.

So many people hate SUC. If they were to add it to the show next leg of the tour you'll all be skipping the bathroom break and wetting your pants to watch it.

I don't know about others, but I would be disappointed if they play it.

i'd be pissed if SUC was played just because i feel that WAS and Fez-Being Porn are more worthy of being played live.

Honestly? The first time they played it, I'd of course listen to it to see if it improved as rendered Live. But, if it came across the same way the album track does, then that would be the only listen I willingly gave it.

plus, if the band does follow through on the statement that they'll play new songs live, i don't see them also making room for the worst song on NLOTH.

I know I was kidding around you know because the song gets so much hate but I do think most would be willing to give a new live song at least a listen and there was just no new news about anything new. (Til just tonight.)
You guys are so serious.

after the tour and playing the CD 5 times a day, i got tired of it and put it away for a few months.

after buying tickets to fly out to seattle to catch the next leg in june, i started listening to it again.

its def. a great album still and i think their best since AB.

SUC still is the weak link on the album; i like all the rest of the tunes. "Breathe" is still my favorite and gives me chills when i hear it, "UC" and "NLOTH" are still classics. I don't know, still think's "Boots" is a great tune and a fun song.

I've gotten tired of "Magnificent" good song but just heard it too much.

Great album. Find myself wanting to come back to it and listen. Haven't had that since Pop....although ATYCLB I think is getting much better over time too. Really HTDAAB seems to be the only album since the 80's that I just don't seem to care about.

I really, really tried to like it. I played it for a couple months every chance I could but found I was skipping more and more tracks to the point I finally ripped NLOTH, COL and MOS to my iPod's U2 playlist and put away the cd where it's sat gathering dust ever since.

IMO, it's U2's worst studio album and the fact that even those tracks except MOS really didn't translate well live, contributed to making this latest tour U2's weakest ever from a strictly musical standpoint. I mean, when the highlights of the show are two previously unplayed for years deep cuts like Unforgettable Fire and Ultraviolet, that says volumes.

Just my opinion.

T.B.

Um, OK, everyone else seems to have loved NLOTH, Mag, Boots, UC, etc live, did you see 360 in person?

I personally can't wait for the inevitable anniversary edition of NLOTH years from now, it'd be great to get the making of in Fez on video, we know there is some documentary footage out there, and maybe they'd dare give us the one-take versions of songs, earlier stuff, and I want them to put the Somerville Theatre show from the promo tour out on video.

I don't listen to the album with The Evil Middle Three in it. It's a pretty good album without those songs, and with the Linear version of Winter stuck somewhere in.
