Now that I am able to see it more clearly on my laptop rather than on my phone, I can make out those are Arabic-ish letters and from what I can see, they read "salaam." I may of course be entirely wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.

ha! didn't realize the shirt was sheer!
(I have usually not paid too much attention to POP visuals since
alot didn't appeal to me)

I 've never seen them ( color ones) either
but then again I'm not a big fan of the POP visual era
(love part of the album very much, tho )
but day-um that's sexy one of bono
and if edge's shirt did not have the lapels as a solid black (or looking solid black) it'd be pretty perfect and I'm not one for the "pornstash" either
