I love to read Bono's writing, he has a unique way with words, and I also love to hear his speaking voice

I've downloaded the file with Real Player, if anyone wants it, I can upload it and post a link here, it's a mp3.

Thanks a lot! Saved me (and others) a lot of trouble there.

I absolutely loved reading (and later, when I realized there was a recording of it, listening to) what Bono wrote. Of course I'm assuming that he must've had someone else helping him with it -- at least proofreading it and providing some kind of feedback and ideas. That doesn't take away any of the authenticity of it, in my opinion. Especially when you listen to him reading it, adding some and taking some away... I'm just in awe of this man. I spent last night listening to speeches made by him on YouTube, and there was especially one that really captured me. The one he made at the CA Women's Conference in October last year. Wow! (I know I'm kind of late -- should've seen it months ago, but better late than never, right?)

Sorry for going a bit off topic. My point is that I really appreciate what Bono does outside of the band. Just like others, I don't necessarily agree with every move he makes. But most of what he does, really moves me -- occasionally just as much as U2's music does, actually. And while it should be the other way around, considering the heavy topics he keeps bringing up, I can truly say that he makes me think in new ways. And that really is something, at least in my book.

I'll be absolutely glued to NY Times every time he writes there. I hope there will be audio made by him every time.

I wouldn't be so sure about what you say, of course he would have let someone read it and request his/her opinion (everyone does it), and maybe the little help we always get with commas and marks, apart from that, I see no sign of anything interfering with his style, which has been developed and is well documented for at least the last twenty years. I've liked this little piece of writing quite a lot, the way it drags from the Irish literary tradition, the atmospheric description and the whole metaphor, the two sides of a song/singer and the two sides of life. We could say he's not focussed enough, but I think it adds to the lyricism of the piece.

It always amazes me that people are so surprised that Bono can write well. It's like, "He's a rock star so he must be illiterate." He writes the way he talks and he talks like a very intelligent and thoughtful person so why wouldn't he be able to write?
