Ah it really does warm the cockles of your heart to see a rock star like Bono fast approaching his dotage in still in love with his childhood sweetheart Ali Hewson. Scratch that. It warms the area beyond the cockles of your heart - the sub-cockle region - the bit just above your stomach. You know the bit we're talking about, yeah? Okay. So, we don't know biology folks, but we know these two love birds make us go all warm and gooey inside...
Forget Romeo & Juliet, forget Antony and Cleopatra, you can even forget Shrek and Princess Fiona - actually forget all the great timeless love stories. Yeah, you heard us... Bono and Ali is the modern day romance for us folks. A hands-down winner.
Every time we see these two love sick fools together it gives us hope for the world. Even when they are hanging out with Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Bobbo De Niro on fancy yachts or living it up with Angelina Jolie and Cindy Crawford on the terrace of yet another fancy holiday villa - they still look like the goofy teenagers that met on the North Side of Dublin way-back-when...
And for all his charity campaigning and preaching about AIDS and the poor, Bono tends to get on our nerves... Doesn't he know that this world is going to hell in a hand-basket and no amount politician back-slapping and good-will concerts are going to save us? The planet’s doomed destiny is inevitable... Although, one picture of himself with the missus, and once again we have hope for humanity. It's the simple little things that really count.
And you know what also? Keep your Angelina Jolies and your Cindy Crawfords. Give us a proper woman like Ali Hewson over those two any day... Ali is hot and damn sexy. She makes her beauty look effortless with very little make-up, rimmed glasses, and simple yet elegant attire. Usually black. Plus she's ageless...
Bono was spotted with Ali, strolling hand-in-hand around the very scenic Portofino, in Italy this week. The couple have been holidaying in and around that part of the world for the past few weeks...
And despite being on his hols, good aul Bono still managed to give his trademark V sign to the paps and looked totally unbothered about the presence of cameras, even on his vacation... Bono you canny old pro you.
