So so so many...

"when the soul wants, the soul waits"

"the worst pain is to feel nothing at all"

"what you don't have you don't need it now"

"show your soul, you've been keeping your love under control"

wow this is hard.....there's atleast a line from every song that fits here but let's try!

11 O'Clock Tick Tock:
And I know we haven't long
We thought that we had the answers
It was the questions we had wrong.

Acrobat:
And you can dream, so dream out loudv And you can find your own way out.
And you can build, and I can will
And you can call, I can't wait until
You can stash and you can seize
In dreams begin responsibilities
And I can love, and I can love
And I know that the tide is turning 'round
So don't let the bastards grind you down.

Gone:
You wanted to get somewhere so badly
You had to lose yourself along the way.

Indian Summer Sky:
To lose along the way
the spark that set the flame
To flicker and to fade
on this the longest day.

kite (almost everyline on this song):
Did I waste it?
Not so much I couldn't taste it
Life should be fragrant
Roof top to the basement

Last night on Earth:
The more you take, the less you feel
The less you know the more you believe
The more you have, the more it takes today

all of Peace On Earth....and stuck in a moment.

please:
So you never knew love
Until you crossed the line of grace.
And you never felt wanted
Till you'd someone slap your face.
So you never felt alive
Until you'd almost wasted away.

Staring at the sun:
I'm not the only one
Staring at the sun
Afraid of what you'd find
If you take a look inside.

......so many more i can't think of right now......lol
oh ya and my sig!

I agree with these!!
There are more but when I need to remember U2 lyrics, I can't!
"when the soul wants, the soul waits" is a good line that I clearly identify with--I want and need a lot more, but I'm being taught (i believe) humility!!

" You have to leave it behind"

" No one, no one is blinder, then he who will not see"

" I can't change the world, but i can change the world in me"

"Open up to the love of God, to the love of he who made the blind to see"

"REJOICE"

"See the hands that build, can also pull down, Even the hands of love"

" I have spoke with tongue of angels, I have held hand of a devil, it was warm in the night, I was cold as a stone"

"One day Ill die, the choice will not be mine, will it be to late, you cant fight fate"

" And I felt like a star, I felt the world could go far, if they listened to what I said"

"Angry words won't stop the fight,Two wrongs won't make it right
A new heart is what I need,Oh God, make it bleed
Is there nothing left"

"And we love to wear a badge, a uniform,And we love to fly a flag
But I won't let others live in hell, As we divide against each other
And we fight amongst ourselves"

" A heart that hurts, is a heart that beats"

God Part 2, Acrobat, Wake up Dead Man oh never mind theres too many!

"We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill
As the day begs the night for mercy, love.
A sun so bright it leaves no shadows
Only scars carved into stone on the face of earth.
The moon is up and over One Tree Hill
We see the sun go down in your eyes.

You run like a river on to the sea
You run like a river runs to the sea.

And in the world, a heart of darkness, a fire-zone
Where poets speak their heart then bleed for it
Jara sang, his song a weapon in the hands of love.
You know his blood still cries from the ground.

It runs like a river runs to the sea.
It runs like a river to the sea.

I don't believe in painted roses or bleeding hearts
While bullets rape the night of the merciful.
I'll see you again when the stars fall from the sky
And the moon has turned red over One Tree Hill.

We run like a river runs to the sea
We run like a river to the sea.

And when it's rainin', rainin' hard
That's when the rain will break a heart.

Rainin', rainin' in your heart
Rainin' in your heart.
Rainin', rain into your heart
Rainin', rainin', rainin'
Rain into your heart.
Rainin', ooh, rain in your heart, yeah.
Feel it.

Oh great ocean
Oh great sea
Run to the ocean
Run to the sea."

i think the lyrics explain it all for me :)

The sun is so bright it leaves no shadows, only scars; carved into stone on the face of Earth

Walk on -when Ive had a terrible day listening to this song really helps, it motivates me to go on(walk on ) and never give up, no matter what

The glass is cut
The bottle run dry
Our love runs cold
In the caverns of the night
We're wounded by fear
Injured in doubt
I can lose myself
You I can't live without

Yeah you keep me holding on
In Red Hill Town
See the lights go down on
I'm hanging on
You're all that's left to hold on to
I'm still waiting
Hanging on
You're all that's left to hold on to
Hold on to

We'll scorch the earth
Set fire to the sky
We stoop so low to reach so high
A link is lost
The chain undone
We wait all day
For night to come
And it comes
Like a hunter child

I'm hanging on
You're all that's left to hold on to
I'm still waiting
I'm hanging on
You're all that's left to hold on to

Love...slowly stripped away
Love...has seen its better day

Hanging on
The lights go out on Red Hill
The lights go down on Red Hill
Lights go down on Red Hill town
The lights go down on Red Hill

My fav....Makes me cry......

omigod! me too! Especially when you're already in tears from Running to Stand Still... it's so great I even have it in my Sig, and I see you have it in your name!

Inspiring:

All of Acrobat (and you can dream, so dream out loud and don't let the bastards grind you down)

"Don't Expect, Suggest" (numb)

Stuck in a Moment did a lot for me - "you gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight, these tears are goin nowhere"

and still, "and if the mountains should crumble, or disappear into the sea, not a tear, no not I"

to put it simply, Walk on. all of it, saved my life

Mine too. i really mean that.

"I know it aches, and your heart it breaks, and you can only take so much... Walk on... Leave it behind... You've got to leave it behind..."

"What you got they can't deny it, can't sell it, or buy it."

"What you got they can't steal it, no they can't even feel it."

The "Hallelujiah"'s at the end of Walk On on the Elevation tour (and to a lesser extent Running to stand still)

"A vampire, or a victim, it depends on who's around" (okay, not really inspiring, but its how i feel sometimes, you know, a different person for everyone i meet)

"We're one, but we're not the same, we get to carry eachother"

"And you can dream, so dream out loud,
and you can find your own way out"

"Who said that if you go in hard, you won't get hurt?"

"You gotta live with your dreams, don't make them so hard"

"Where you live should not decide, whether you live or whether you die"

"Get down off your holy cloud, always
God will not deal with the proud, always
And if you dream then dream out loud, always
Eternally yours, Always"

"It's not why you're running
It's where you're going
It's not what you're dreaming
But what you're gonna do
It's not where you're born
It's where you belong
It's not how weak
but what will make you strong"

"Don't expect, sugest"

"What you don't have,
you don't need it now,
What you don't know,
you can feel somehow"

Thats enough, there's just so many though! Every song has something inspirational in it (even Big Girls are Best  ).

THAT is why i love U2. if the lyrics weren't inspirational, i'd still be a fan, but i wouldn't love them.

Don't worry baby - it's gonna be alright - you got the right shoes to get you through the night.

Dream out loud

In the garden I was playing the tart - I kissed your lips - broke your heart - you - you were acting like it was the end of the world
**slides into greatest solo ever mounted by a guitarist**

I Will Follow-I don't know what Bono was thinking about when he wrote it or how other interpret it, but for me, it's about finding my faith in God again.

City Of Blinding Lights
I've seen you walk afraid
I've seen you in the clothes you make
And you see the beauty
Inside of me

Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
You don't know how you got here
But you know that you want out
Believing in yourself
Almost as much as you doubt

in dreams begin responsibilities

uncertainty can be a guiding light

midnight is where the day begins

i can't change the world
but i can change the world in me

the whole of 'bad'

the lyrics that have most inspired me are:

"you can dream so dream out loud and don't let the bastards grind you down"

"There's no failure here sweetheard, just when you quit"

"I've seen you walk unafraid"

"blinded you've lost your way in the side streets and the alley ways like a star exploding in the night filling up the city with broad day light, an angel in devils shoes, salvation in the blues, you never looked like an angel"

and i don't know if anyone will agree with me on this, but sunday bloody sunday as a song, it inspired me so much to want things to change, and made me realise that things need to be changed it really was a huge inspiration on me

All of "Walk On"

All of "Kite", especially this part:
"I want you to know
That you don't need me anymore
I want you to know
You don't need anyone or anything at all
Who's to say where the wind will take you?
Who's to say what it is will break you?
I don't know which way the wind will blow
Who's to know when the time has come around
I don't wanna see you cry
I know that this is not goodbye"

All of "Stuck in a Moment"
All of "Miracle Drug", especially these parts:
"There is no failure here sweetheart, just when you quit"
"God, I need Your help tonight"

All of "Beautiful Day"

"You've gotta cry without weeping
Talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice"

All of "Yahweh"

And pretty much anything else... There are definitely a few missing on this list.

Personally, the song that has inspired me most is Stuck in a Moment, especially the ending..

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if your way should falter
Along that stony pass
It's just a moment, this time will pass

I think it was the way its sung, so heartfelt and.. .. you know. Anyway, the whole of All That You Can't Leave Behind inspired me to keep going through some tough times.

"If you wanna kiss the sky better learn how to kneel"

If you should ask then maybe they'd
Tell you what I would say
True colors fly in blue and black
Bruised silken sky and burning flag
Colours crash, collide in blood shot eyes

Beautiful rhymes in these lines...
...and the lyrics of Exit is also great, so dark and devlish...nobody's gonna write something like that again
