Any one have any idea what the inspiration is behind this song?

I got the Slane dvd for Christmas, and was blown away by the perfomance of this song. I'm just curious what it is about...

I see it almost like a desperate conversation. Man realizes he is confused and powerless. He admits he doesn't have any real answers. God does have the answers and speaks to man...open your eyes, wake up, and listen.

Listen to the words they'll tell you what to do
Listen over the rhythm that's confusing you
Listen to the reed in the saxophone
Listen over the hum of the radio
Listen over the sound of blades in rotation
Listen through the traffic and circulation
Listen as hope and peace try to rhyme
Listen over marching bands playing out their time.

I also believe the song is inviting us to "wake up", beyond the humdrum of our daily lives, to be "wide awake"', aware, and fulfill our potential, we have so much inside of us, so much to give.
