I always thought the real lyrics to part of 'Twilight' were:

"A woman tried to walk me home,
I thought you should know..."

(close enough? It makes Bono sound like he was such an awkward kid.)

But they're really,

"The old man tried to walk me home,
I thought he should have known..."

Damn.

And for 'Out of Control,' since Bono absolutely mangles the word 'eighteen' ('eye-oo-teen'? D:),

"Monday morning, when the world is dawning..."
(really "Monday morning, eighteen years of dawning")

My first language isn't English and most of the time I just don't understand lyrics instead of mishearing them.
But when I just was singing during riding my bike, I realized there was something very wrong about my lyrics of With Or Without You:

"Slice of head and twist of fate
For a man as you she looks me great
And I wait without you"

instead of:
"Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you"

Well, it sort of still rhymes :shifty:
Especially the 'slice of head' highly disturbs me.

When I first heard Love Rescue Me, I thought the lyrics at the end of the 4th verse were...

See the purple of her eyes...
The starlet of my ass...
Love rescue me...

Well, I don't really know the lyrics to Mercy.

But at the end of the chorus, I find myself singing...

"People...people...people...people!"

I don't know if those lyrics are what Bono is actually singing.

After I first heard Gloria I thought he was singing "I try to sing to some guy/ I try to stand up but I can't find the beat" and so I sang it just like that until one day I read the actual lyrics. On the same song I heard "You're standing where you left me in" instead of "You're standing there, you let me in"

Same album, different songs. Is That All? is misheard:

Misheard lyrics: "Sing me a song that makes me bells"
Real lyrics: "Sing me a song that makes me dance"

My mom misheard the chorus "Is that all?" as "Is that love?" until she read the title.

With A Shout (Jerusalem) is misheard:

Misheard: "And I wanna go to foot of the side of the road"
Real: "And I wanna go to the foot of the messiah"

How do you get "road" from "messiah"?

...throughout the hall

instead of

...through alcohol

I've been singing it wrong for over 25 years, only learned a few weeks ago what the correct words are!!!

^:lmao: That reeeally made me laugh  Maybe a HAND to BITE...

I might have said this already, but I was one of the probably many who thought the line in Promenade was "men of straw sneak a whore" instead of "men of straw, snooker hall".

I didn't find out I was wrong till I saw that misheard lyrics video

:lmao: I can hear it too!

I misheard ISHFWILF.

Misheard- "I have spun through a ton of angels"
Correct- "I have spoken with a tongue of angels"

And I think Red Light is pretty bad too. All of the following are from Red Light.

Misheard- "Oh I tie to you"
Correct- "Oh I talk to you"

Misheard- "You sit on the downbeat"
Correct- "You're still on the downbeat"

Misheard- "Into the corner they jump as you jump to the street below"
Correct- "It's your own late show as you jump to the street below"

"in the name of love, once more in the name of love!"

I've always known what it was, it just always sounds like this... changes the whole meaning too.

I'm having trouble with Out Of Control sounding so unintelligible. I had to look up that it was 'eighteen years of dawning'; it sounds like 'I you teen' or something

:lmao: I can hear it too!

I misheard ISHFWILF.

Misheard- "I have spun through a ton of angels"
Correct- "I have spoken with a tongue of angels"
Misheard- "You sit on the downbeat"
Correct- "You're still on the downbeat"

It does sound like 'you sit on the downbeat'! Goodness.

and I like your ISHFWILF one :)

Just realised that actually it's
"Here she comes
Surreal in her crown..."
not "So Real in her crown"

"in the name of love, once more in the name of love!"
I've always known what it was, it just always sounds like this... changes the whole meaning too.
I thought it was "one more in the name of love!"
