Ok, lyric question. I'm reading The Hobbit and one chapter is called "Thief in the Night". what U2 song is this from? I was thinking Hawkmoon but that's "drums in the night." I'm an idiot for not knowing this.
 
All of the above references are correct, but are not the original use of the phrase. That's from the Bible: "...the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night." ( 1 Thessalonians) Bono would have known exactly where that came from.
