I was just listening to Miracle Drug, and we all know the miracle drug is a cure for aids, probably, but I was thinking, when Bono sings:

"I'd give it up, yeah I'd give it up, for a miracle, miracle drug"

maybe he's saying he'd give up being a rock star, give up being in U2, give up the rich and famous lifestyle, give it all up, if it would bring a cure, a miracle drug. My take.

From Q Magazine:

'Miracle Drug'
The sort of wide-eyed anthem that should by now carry a U2 patent.
Bono: "It started off being about the Irish writer Christopher Nolan, who was at our school (Nolan, who was born with cerebral palsy, won the 1988 Whitbread Prize for his autobiographical novel 'Under The Eyes of the Clock'). But in a more oblique way it's probably as much about Aids and the drugs developed to arrest it. I couldn't write specifically about that without feeling an idiot."

He'd give up romantic love for a miracle drug.

Yeah, I agree with this!
Maybe he's giving up romantic love for REAL love -- isn't love a sort of drug at times?

I thought it was like Nolan's mother saying she would give up anything if her son could be cured in a way.

i heard Bono also said this song is about a "miracle drug" that could heal AIDS.
I think he can't avoid talking about this issue!!
