And the fear goes down
slots are crarved
it feels like a bridge
shes back on the machine
but its sweet so far away

You're welcome.

And the single version is not better than the album version. If you believe it is, you have either

A) Not heard the single version

B) Not heard the album version

C) No insight

I was watching Popmart Mexico City yesterday.... I always laugh during that part..... AS IF!!!!

I love it when Bono pretends he is rocking out on the guitar on ANY song. Rattle and Hum... he looks so serious about it. And Edge doesn't watch.

i though it was:

when the fuel goes down
stops the car
feels like rage
shes back on the street
but it swings so far away

You're welcome.

If these are seriously the opening lyrics they are very good.

A bit of Joy Division in the mix I think?

yeah ive read all kinds of interpretations but can you honestly say that:

when the fuel goes down
stops the car
feels like rage
shes back on the street
but it swings so far away

makes any sense?

i sat there in my car and listened, rewound, listened, rewound and listened again.

hes not saying fuel, hes saying fear. listen.

not stops, slots. not car, carved.

bridge, not rage.

not street, machine.

could be swings, it could be sweet. although i dont hear an n.

but if you listen to the lyrics while reading my interpretation, you cant deny what ive written. It sounds exactly like it.

]It's stream of consciousness, no point in trying to overanalyse it. That's why I see the Joy Division influence 'cos Ian Curtis wrote a lot of his lyrics like that.

I hear a combination of the two, definately don't hear machine, but like financeguy said it's stream of conscious it shouldn't be over analyzed.
