I always thought it referred to kissing after fellatio, and him wondering who would be doing that with her, after they parted.

Ah, I see! I don't think it works that way, sadly. It has something to do with enzymes or some other substance that is produced. Not sure, as I don't have a degree in bio-chemistry.
