IMO this song is much deeper than everbody thinks... this is a very personal and private song, one that puts the likes of "with or without you" and "vetigo" to shame. It is, in fact, about Bono watching footage of himself... a real disgusting ego trip.__________________
Watching your bright blue eyes
In the freeze frame
Not many people know that Bono has blue eyes that could even be described as... bright.
I've seen them so many times
I feel like I must be your best friend
Most people know that Bono is his own best friend.
You're looking fine, so fine, oh my
Dressed up like a lovely day, oh
Slow down child, let me untie your lace
Cover girl with natural grace
Bono has covered songs originally sung by women, and, as all who have been to a U2 show can attest, he is also known for his natural grace.
How could beauty be so kind
To an ordinary guy
I guess Bono probably has a clone somewhere that is living an ordinary life, which this lyric cleverly alludes to.
Coming home late at night
To turn you on
Um well I'm pretty sure Bono has a home... again obvious but it's worth mentioning.
Checking out every frame
I've got slow motion on my side
His super power is slow motion, which he has cleverly referenced here.
Tin foil hair all tied up in lace
He's referring to tin foil hats, an object of fashion that a large number of his fans are prone to wear.
You're everywhere child
You're all over the place
When a new U2 album is out, Bono is on every newspaper, magazine, storefront tv, condom and roadsign on the planet. A clever reference.
You're coming to me from outer-space
Refers to the common rumour that Bono is a martian.
