On the lyrics of the song, Bono says:

"I don't believe the devil,
I don't believe HIS book,"

But on the booklet it reads:

"I don't believe the devil,
I don't believe THE book,"

And when I thought about it...it seemed one was really contradictory to the other. If he means, by the book, the Bible...then it's not the same as the devil's book, is it? Or is he saying "his" on purpose? Anyone notice that?

Well on u2.com it say "his book". I noticed that and it always bugged me.

HE WAS SPEAKING IN JOHNNY CASH's spiritual voice!

Serious, in that period, he was vocaling Johnny's accent.

Isn't this obvious to American's here?

He was doing Cash, and Cash's battle with alcohol and God.

Christ almighty.

GOD PART II IS ABOUT JOHNNY CASH! battle with morality, alcoholism, and God.
