Exactly.... I feel like I'm on a completely different place when I listen to that.

Everything Is Broken...

:D

Someone who understands! LOLOLO

Dylan songs are just so...deep...know what I mean? You really have listen to what he's saying! Like in Most of the Time...whoever he is singing about, he's glad she's gone...but a small part of him misses her terribly...

As heard in Girl From The North Country...

He sings alot about love lost...

And you've got to love his political stuff...Only A Pawn In Their Game...

Listening to Simple Twist of Fate, "Wished that he'd gone straiiiiiight!"

Oh, Dylan is great... his lyrics can be funny, deep, romantic... I don't think I've ever laughed listening to a song as I did listening to Bob Dylan's 115th Dream. :D Black Diamond Bay has gorgeous lyrics too. My memory sucks though, I have a big problem remebering lyrics. The only bands I remember lyrics well are U2, R.E.M. and Aerosmith, which I'm into for four+ years now.
But Dylan has a lot of stuff, there's still a lot of things I don't have here on my pc. :reject: And as usual, probably there's no one in the world that agrees with me on my favorite Dylan song.

EDIT: listening to What Good Am I?

"Bob Dylan 115th Dream"...listening right now...I always laugh outloud! "I was riding on the MayFlower when I thought I spotted land...*bursts outloud"

:lol::lol:

That's one thing I'm gud at...remembering lyrics. I know all the words to Hurricane...

But Oh Mercy, incredible...just incredible. Few songs have the ability to take you to other places...but the tracks on that record do...

Bono said he used to stay up in his room and just have the music transport him, I guess he was dealing with alot of shit, teenage angst...

That definitely influenced him on "Deep In The Heart"...deep soundscapes...that's really difficult to achieve...

The song has a limitless atmosphere...that's what "Most of the Time" does...

(God, I'm sounding really cheesy right now...)

Listening to "Forever Young"...

It's always nice to be cheesy sometimes. The right to be ridiculous is something I hold dear. :sexywink:
"when I was leaving the bay I saw three ships sailing, there were all heading my way. I asked the captain what his name was and how come he didn't drive a truck. He said his name was Columbus and I just said: 'good luck'."
:lol::lol:

Of course, it depends on the mood, but Oh Mercy almost always can lift me from wherever I am and just take me to beautiful places.

Deep In the Heart
Forever Young... Planet Waves right?

Yep, Planet Ways

His lyrics are so witty, how can anybody write that good? I-have-no-idea...

Deep In The Heart...hidden gem...do you even know what that song is about? When I found out I was like, "TMI".

Yes... Dylan has an amazing gift.
Yes, Deep... very heavy lyrics. Anyway, what's "TMI"? I have a problem with those acronyms...
Also, I'm going to bed. It's not that late here but I woke at 7:00 AM. Good night

Oh Mercy is my personal favorite Dylan album, and probably in my all-time Top 20.

And it bugs me that his last three studio albums (all great, of course) get all the attention when Oh Mercy is as good, if not better, than all of them.

If he had included God Knows, Born in Time, Series of Dreams (all three found on last year's Tell Tale Signs collection) as well as Dignity (the version from the 3-disc "Dylan" collection, not the one on Tell Tale Signs) on the album, this wouldn't even be a discussion.

I'd have Placebo's Black Market Music in my top 20 somewhere.

NLOTH in your top 20? Big call. Obviously this is totally subjective, but...

A rock top 20 has to contain albums like Born To Run, Dark Side Of The Moon, Ok Computer... no need to go on.

I can't possibly rate NLOTH anywhere near these sort of albums. It is in U2's 'second tier' of albums; i.e. not even one of their best, let alone how it compares to the best from everyone else.

I love how people say you can't put NLOTH in the top 20 !!! Get over yourself!!!!And for what it's worth from this bloody longtime fan it IS top tier!!!!!!!!!!! Listen to it for a while. Let it sink in without any preconceptions of anything else and you will understand the true beauty of this album!!!

For what it's worth. In no particular order, here are my most favourite albums. Impossible to rank as they all stand out.

No Line On the Horizon - U2
Unforgettable Fire - U2
Joshua Tree - U2
Chairs Missing - Wire
The Bends - Radiohead
The Crossing - Big Country
Never Mind The Bollocks - Sex Pistols
If you Want Blood You Got It - AC/DC
Pipers At the Gates Of Dawn - Pink Floyd
The Pious Bird of Good Omen - Fleetwood Mac
Kick Inside - Kate Bush
Peng! - Stereolab
Black Holes and Revelations - Muse
Doolittle - Pixies
Rid of Me -PJ Harvey
The Doors -The Doors
NightTime - Killing Joke
Are You Experienced - Jimi Hendrix
Nevermind - Nirvana
Dummy - Portishead
Texas Flood - Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble

Well, this is nearly impossible to determine. OK, in chronological order, here are my more-or-less top 20:

Bob Dylan — The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan — Bringing It All Back Home
The Beatles — The Beatles (White Album)
The Beatles — Let It Be [the 'Naked' version]
John Lennon — Plastic Ono Band
Joni Mitchell — Blue
The Wailers — Burnin’
Stevie Wonder — Songs In The Key Of Life
Prince — Purple Rain
U2 — The Joshua Tree
Prince — Sign O’ The Times
Sinéad O’Connor — The Lion & The Cobra
Sting — …Nothing Like The Sun
The Stone Roses — The Stone Roses
The Grapes Of Wrath — Now and Again
The La’s — The La’s
U2 — Achtung, Baby
Björk — Debut
Juliana Hatfield Three — Become What You Are
Speech — Spiritual People

OK, and here are the rest of the best:

Fred Neil — Bleecker & MacDougal
The Beatles — Revolver
Van Morrison — Astral Weeks
The Beatles — Abbey Road
Joni Mitchell — Clouds
George Harrison — All Things Must Pass
Joni Mitchell — Ladies Of The Canyon
Rolling Stones — Sticky Fingers
Stevie Wonder — Talking Book
Stevie Wonder — Innervisions
Bob Marley & The Wailers — Natty Dread
Bob Dylan — Blood On The Tracks
The Police — Reggatta de Blanc
U2 — The Unforgettable Fire
The Lemonheads — It’s A Shame About Ray
R.E.M. — Automatic For The People
U2 — How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

So, that makes two U2 albums in the top 20, and 4 in my overall list of 37 or so -- I guess these in total would be "5-star" albums.

Having made the list, I would like to add that the album is not necessarily the most important medium in pop/rock/soul music. The further we get from "rock" (whatever that is), the less important the album becomes and the more important the single, or song (this also applies to all music before the mid- to late-60s). So, if I were to include compilations, there would be further 5-star entries by artists like Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, The Byrds, The Impression, Simon & Garfunkel, and lots of others...

Let it sink in without any preconceptions of anything else and you will understand the true beauty of this album!!!

I'm also a long time fan who loves this album. But I think to already be including something you've only had for a week (or three, if you got the leak) is rather ridiculous. I listened to POP even more when it came out, loved it even more, and while I still like it a lot, the point is that initial excitement can wear off after time, or sooner.

All I'm saying is people should have a little perspective. When you use the term "all-time" it's in relation to your entire life, and it cheapens the other albums you've grown to love so dearly by sticking something so new in there, regardless of who it's by or how much you like it already.

If you're already putting No Line in your all-time Top 20, you probably need to listen to more music, or have a little perspective and patience.

Whatever happened to "music is subjective"?
I listen to a lot of music and NLOTH is pretty much the second coming of christ in my opinion.

NLOTH in your top 20? Big call. Obviously this is totally subjective, but...

Again, why do I have to include Born to Run? I don't even like Springsteen.
And In Rainbows, Kid A, Hail To The Thief or Amnesiac >>>>>> OK Computer IMO.

Look me up in two years, and maybe you get to say "I told you so".

Until then, let me have my all time 5th favourite album exactly where it belongs.
