Album tracks only. It's a whole new ball game with b-sides and non-album tracks

Yeah my choices would have been completely different if the rules hadn't stated "album tracks only".

* Neon Lights and Dancing Barefoot are cover songs

* That tracklisting is probably better than ATYCLB or The Bomb

So I went back in the archives to the the first reactions when NLOTH leaked and found these gems from

LemonMelon

"I'LL GO CRAZY IF I DON'T GO CRAZY TONIGHT IS LIKE HAVING A THREESOME WITH SCARLETT JOHANNSON AND SALMA HAYEK ON ECSTASY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE MUSIC, BUT IT'S JUST THAT GOOD.

STAND UP COMEDY IS SO GOOD, LED ZEPPELIN WOULD HAVE TO STEAL THE BEST NOTE FROM EACH OF THE GREATEST BLUES SONGS EVER CREATED TO MATCH ITS GLORIOUS MAJESTY."

It's OK we all get a bit a overwhelmed when the album first drops. Now those tracks are on your worst of list. I said some embarrassing things about HTDAAB when it first came out.

Hahaha

That post was satire hence the all caps. :) I've never liked Crazy much, but SUC was enjoyable to me at first. That one I've soured on.

I've always liked Crazy Tonight and hated SUC. However, I used to think that Breathe and Unknown Caller were awesome....lol.#theybothsuck

Breathe is VERY good. Probably their best rock song of the past 15 years (which I realize isn't saying much).

Breathe had the potential to be awesome. But while I think the chorus and intro are good, the lyrics for the rest of the song feel quite rushed and forced. Should've let Edge go ape crazy on a solo for a while and cut out half the lyrics. All in all, I think it's just a decent, kind of forgettable song, but once in a while it sounds pretty good.
Unknown Caller felt really epic to me at first and I thought it was amazing. Now, I kinda think it tried too hard and comes off as pretty stupid sometimes when I listen to it.
I guess NLOTH is still an album that I've struggled to really like. I think White As Snow and Magnificent are phenomenal and amongst their best material, but something just doesn't click as a whole.

Well, of course they are coversongs, but not very good ones. ..

Nice to see there is so much diversity in taste about the u2 songs. It's clearly an evidence the band has reached a very big audience!

Personally I like the dark, mysterious side of the band.

Somebody over on the 'Rank Zooropa' thread said SUC and EPAA were awful tracks. Sacriledge! to suggest such a comparison, but to each their own. Let the debate begin.

Rules - 11 Tracks from U2 Studio albums (No Passengers). Organize your tracklist for maximum angst:doh:.

1.) Stand Up Comedy
2.) Stranger in a Strange Land
3.) Red Light
4.) Peace on Earth
5.) Love and Peace or Else
5.) With a Shout (Jerusalem)
6.) Wild Honey
7.) Miami
8.) Shadows and Tall Trees
9.) Wake Up Dead Man
10.) Love Rescue Me
11.) Grace

I know I'll catch some heat for WUDM. Lyrically it's great, but musically bleh.
Definetly not a fan of some their closers.

Yes that was me and I stand by my statement. EPAA sucks. Listen to Bono lyrically meander along, going nowhere while singing out of tune to the beat of A Sort Of Homecoming spun backwards. This is self indulgent tripe that should have been left off the album and been replaced by an actual song, not a glorified demo. The rest of UF is absolute gold.

My list: (original U2 material only because let's face it, the band doesn't really do covers very well)

#1 Stand Up Comedy
#2 Elvis Presley And America
#3 Grace
#4 Get On Your Boots
#5 Is That All?
#6 White As Snow
#7 Wild Honey
#8 Love Rescue Me
#9 Crazy Tonight
#10 Peace On Earth

I don't count "Passengers" stuff because I never really considered it a U2 album.

1. Playboy Mansion - utter boredom
2. Miami - crap
3. Cedars of Lebanon - not a song
4. Red Light - just bad and moreover the trumpets
5.Some Days - a joke
6.Wild Honey - lame song
7.Peace on Earth - just weak
8.Stand Up Comedy - some good ideas, but messy
9.Breathe - good rap verses, but the rest sounds forced and U2 by numbers
10. White As Snow - not too much original, chorus sounds like we´ve heard it somewhere already
11. Miracle - dad rock

Baby face
Numb
Daddy's Gonna Pay...
Some Days Are...
The First Time
Elevation
Crumbs from Your Table
Peace on Earth
Grace
Unknown Caller

I mean, the band's covers for the most part aren't that great. But those two are a hell of a lot better than Paint It Black and Fortunate Son, to name two.
 Paint it Black is my favourite cover...

OK, so sticking only to album tracks:

1. Red Light
2. Miami
3. Get on Your Boots
4. Stand Up Comedy
5. Original of the Species
6. Babyface
7. In a Little While
8. Unknown Caller
9. Stuck in a Moment
10. SYCMIOYO
11. Love Rescue Me

I'm surprised at all the dislike for Love Rescue Me. I think it's one of the top 3 songs on R&H, along with Heartland and All I Want Is You.

The Ocean
Iris
Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
Some Days Are Better Than Others
With A Shout (Jerusalem)
Grace
Cedars Of Lebanon
4th of July

The worst of the worst of the worst

Yes, I like Red Light and the Refugee. After doing WAR complete with my cover band, they're actually really fun

Iris
Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
With A Shout (Jerusalem)

The worst of the worst of the worst

Oh my...... those 3 are in my top 30 U2 songs, even better for 2 of them!

Anyway, my list is the following: (worst song of each album)

1. The Ocean
2. Stranger in a strange land
3. The Refugee
4. Elvis Presley and America
5. Trip through your wires
6. When love comes to town
7. Trying to throw your arms around the world
8. The Wanderer
9. The Playboy Mansion
10. Wild Honey (there are many more in this album....)
11. One step closer
12. Cedars of Lebanon
13. Song for Someone

If you ask me about the 13 worst songs overall, it wouldn't be the exact same list of course, however 6 or 7 songs would stay in there....

---

I'm really enjoying seeing how many of the songs I love, several other people hate, and viceversa, some of the songs that I hate, other people love.

It makes me listen to some of my low ranked songs again trying to find what did I missed.
Also, it's nice because it shows how subjective music tastes are, and also because it shows (at least to me) how great U2 is, that there's barely no filler at all... probably YOU think that some song shouldn't have been made, but it was no mistake to have it in there, since someone else really loved that one.
