Let me just say, that when I see this band live, every single song they play (even the warhorses and songs that I think they should let have a little breather) has me in a state of permanent goosebumplesness . . . seeing them live (and this sounds so dorky :reject: ) is transcendant for me. almost out of body . . . it is pretty much the highest of highs and after the Vertigo show I saw, I was in a state of euphoria for weeks . . . just the memory of how I felt when they came on stage . . .

I agree, PR! I've been lucky enough to see them live three times now, arena shows (Notre Dame 10/10/01, Chicago 05/09/05, and Chicago 09/20/05), and it has been the same each time. swandiver and I couldn't sleep after the 05/09/05 show, we were that "high." We should have just called a taxi and gone to a casino, because we sure weren't sleeping!

We shall see if I feel the same at stadium shows this fall, Chicago Soldier Field 09/12/09 and Charlottesville Scott Stadium 10/10/09.

Oh, and another thing: Edge's guitar in "All I Want Is You", after Bono sings, "All . . . I want . . . is you." Sigh . . . .

Ok, let me try...

Moment of Surrender, The Fly, Running to Stand Still, Streets, Miss Sarajevo, One, SYCMIOYO, All I Want is You, Walk On, Unforgettable Fire, Mercy, Kite, Everlasting Love, Love is Blindness, Bad, With or Without You, One Tree Hill, Can't Help Falling in Love, Unchained Melody... and many many other songs of their live performances and studio recordings. :)

Let's see, Walk to the Water is one of the only songs that's ever made me cry. And I usually cry when I listen to COBL...but that's only because of the meaning I accidentally gave it myself. Normally, I don't even like the thing all that much.

just listening to the unfortgettable fire as i was frantically drving to uni the other night in the howling wind, trying to make a deadline, and it was really great to listen to in the moment, i played ith through twice actually.

and i really love it. even fourth of july, which is an effortless calming instrumental, elvis presley and america brought a wave of calm over me (and i love the final 20 seconds) and mlk is what it is.

didn't know where else to say that, and didn't seem worth making a thread about boviousky, but damn, it's a good album

amen to that  . . . been having a little revisit of that one of late myself too and it really has aged superbly

Many of their songs move me in various ways, but for me, the major goosebumps/chills moments are all of One Tree Hill, and Red Hill Mining Town, esp. the line "I can lose myself, you I can't live without."

Ok. So unfortunatelly, the whole emotional catharsis thing usually never works more than a couple times for me, so many of these songs simply don't do it anymore. But here we go anyway...

Walk On
Beautiful Day
City of Blinding Lights
A Sort of Homecoming
I Fall Down
Lemon
Where the Streets Have No Name
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
One Tree Hill
Ultraviolet
Moment of Surrender

Wow, that's a lot of songs. I must be real easy :D

Walk on Live at Earls Court brought me to tears

As did One at U23D (though I felt a bit of an idiot in the IMAX)

There are many U2 songs I can relate, it depends on my own mood, but the following are those that never fail to do it:
One, Bad, Running to Stand Still, With Or Without You, Love is Darkness, Kite, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, Peace On Earth and City Of Blinding Lights (these 2 were impressive, but they definitely took a deeper meaning for me after the 11 of March in my city), Moment of Surrender, White as Snow, MLK, Mofo and some others, depending on the moment.
Where the Streets Have No Name, Beautiful Day, Elevation, Breathe are examples of powerful songs that bring a lot of positive energy to me.

Walk on Live at Earls Court brought me to tears

 Me too  Very powerful song.

WOWY can and so can Gloria of all things. Gloria reminds me of the very first day I heard it when it was released, and it makes me thankful that it made me fall in love with this Irish nobodys called U2  :cute:

More recently Magnificent  I cannot understand for the life of me WHY one of the best U2 singles in the last 10 years did so appalingly in the UK charts, it fared far worse than Boots  I don't know if it is the credit crunch, or the fact that album leaked all over the world, that nobody could be fagged to buy it? :hmm: I did :cute:

These are the moments which separate U2 from all other bands for me, the parts where the hair on your neck stands up and shivers run down your spine, where you can feel the prescence of something greater, maybe God, these are 22 of the reasons why I absolutely love U2.
1 the Halleluiah bit on Running to stand still ZOO TV,
2 the whole of An Cat Dubh,
3 the final third of tomorrow,
4 all of Scarlet,
5 the "dance with me turn me around tonight" part from promenade
6 the unforgettable Fire,
7 the intro to Streets
8 the final verse of One Tree Hill "I'll see you again, when the stars fall from the sky" is U2's finest moment.
9 The outro from Mothers of the disapperared,
10 the guitar solo at the end of all I want is you,
11 the guitar lines in live Hawkmoon 269
12 the slide guitar solo in even better than the real thing
13 ALL of the fly, the lines " I kissed your lips and broke your heart" and "you said you'd wait until the end of the world" from until the end of the world,
14 ALL of LOve is blindness.
15The "Staaaaaay" vocal parts in Stay,
16 the final third of zooropa,
17 ALL of The Wanderer,
18 the final third of Mofo,
19 the guitar parts and lyrics of wake up dead man,
20 the final verse of miss sarajevo,
21 the "DAAYYYYY daaayyyy" BIT IN BEAUTIFUL DAY before we get into the final chorus,
22 ALL of Magnificent.

All of these moments and many many more give me goosebumps, the chills and bring me to tears.

This whole post gave me goosbumps :applaud:
