It honestly makes the most sense that they would do it, Larry would be ready (pending surgery complications) and no extra drummer needed. It is always the case that we take the literal interpretation of comments like Larry’s about “not touring next year” rather than applying some context. We know that the plan was a new album in March and Vegas would be part of the new album tour, and he was more than likely referring to not being able to commit to that particular plan. If it is just a series of Vegas shows, I am betting on:

New album approx September-November
Vegas shows kick off September for 12ish weeks, new stuff, AB and SOS style old stuff.

New album tour proper from March 2024. World tour, SOA released mid way round. Exit stage left.

From the Smartless interview:
Edge showed Sean Hayes venue renderings for Vegas, Bono is officially non-committal but bullish. “You are a news network now, ‘cause that’s breaking news.

We haven’t signed off on it but if we do, if we do sign off on this I will say that if we can pull off what we’re talking about, it’s not like anything we’ve done before. It’s not like anything Las Vegas has ever seen before.

If this happens it will be really extraordinary. And again, I don’t want to… I shouldn’t be…

Blame it on Edge…”

Gvox doesn’t just make stuff up…

This site told me Larry has no arms left, so I don't know whom to trust?

Unless The Sphere is out of an X-Men movie and Larry can put on a helmet Dr. X style to play drum beats inside all our heads like he's using Cerebo.

They've been getting some huge guests lately. Biden late last year, Spielberg last week.

I don't pay to subscribe so I'll have to wait until this one is released to Apple podcasts to hear it.

I did think it was only a matter of time before Bono popped up on Smartless as Will Arnett had mentioned him a couple of times in past episodes.

Between U2 at the Sphere, Madonna’s greatest hits tour and the possibility of Coldplay dates, it looks like my favorite artists and bands are trying to persuade me to splurge on tickets this year.

(Making it clear that U2 is always the priority. )

I'm glad I already paid for my Springsteen tickets for March last year. Paid for them so long ago it's almost like they're free!

I just hope the prices for Vegas aren't completely outrageous.

Yeaaaah. I’ve got some miles and the hotels are cheap enough right now. The ticket prices are the question mark here.

I suspect they'll be crazy high.
Maybe a few of the worst seats in the place might be sub 2 bills but I wouldn't count on it.

This is the kind of show I don’t necessarily want to be close for. Mid tier and a bit further back may be ideal. Let the suckers buy the front rows

Yea I'm expecting, like, $150 to $200 for the cheapest ticket, $200 to $300 for middle priced, and somewhere near $400/$500 for the best seats - with a smattering of those platinum/dynamic priced tickets fetching $1,000 plus.

In the renderings I thought I saw the option for GA, but i can't remember. And that was just general renderings, not U2 specific.

Who knows.

Hopefully there's a legit fan club presale.

I'm having second thoughts about renewing my membership. It's one thing for them to offer pre-sale codes for a normal tour, because there's so many shows, but if there's less than 20, all in one city/venue, and all on weekends (convenient for travelers)? The likelihood of getting a code and using it successfully when you're competing with fans all across the country (or world, for that matter) is not very good.

Presale code for the Bono book tour was a bust for me and everyone I know who tried. I assume Vegas may be similar results, but better to have any advantage no matter how slight. Likely it won't work out but one never knows.

Beacon holds 3k. Sphere holds 17-20k. TBD% of that will be platinum and Venetian VIP holds. If they do a presale with more than one access level (longer term vs recent, etc.), it’ll be valuable.

This is my obligatory “go back to 360’s three levels of seniority” mention.

yea the thing that's giving me hope that i'm not going to get shut out here is that this is a MUCH bigger pool of tickets than the book tour - and also a much bigger pool of tickets than your typical Vegas residency.

Garth Brooks is doing 27 shows with a total ticket pool of about 127k for the entire run (not including band holds, casino comps for high rollers, etc. etc.).

U2's 12 shows at a capacity of 17k equals a ticket pool of 204k. if they can stretch that capacity up to 20k that pool goes up to 240k.

and the length of the run is shorter - which i actually think will help with availability. if you're not available in the fall, you're going to miss it - whereas Garth has shows stretching from May to December.

if U2.com is smart - which they typically aren't... but if they are? they should absolutely hold fan club members to no more than two tickets per member and no more than one show per member.

for bono's love of meatballs yes - please do this.

In my mind this venue looks like the stupid senate scenes in the star wars prequels. I get nervous when I’m too high at msg. I might have to get GA so I don’t have a full panic attack.

Anyone see what it looks like inside.
