U2 - that "Bono" guy's band

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Look at The Who as a different example

Most of the time because Pete is the lyric writer ? 95%
most interviews were with Pete bc it was mostly his ideas, vision for the band etc

Course now that it's now just  Pete and Roger ... and even somewhat before that Roger has been interviewed more and has proved to be an
intelligent, thoughtful interviewee as well. :)

(And haven gotten Roger's autograph back after a radio interview ( w Scott Muni WNEW-FM/NYC area for Rock Radio History Mavens  ) in mid-70's he was very nice to the few of us waiting outside.

HI
"wasted his talent" ? wow haarrrssshhhh! :tsk:

:)

don't agree but your post reminds my of something i've forgotten

SO... asking posters here...
When did U2 Stop using the jamming approach to writing songs....
...was it when Bono was absent too much bc of his increasing activism?
or some other reason?

I think they started to go away from it during Rattle and Hum/Achtung Baby. They wanted to write classic songs. Flanagan talks about Adam and Larry waiting for the Hats to write songs. I think it's been their main method since then, and has increased over the last 15 years, but I could be wrong. It would be nice if there was a U2 At The End of the World for another era of U2.

Wasted talent is a bit harsh, but Bono hasn't been as good over the last 15 years as he would have been if he were with the band more. It seems like he was more involved in SOI than he's been recently.
