I would say it would be time.............a revival of that collaboration in a show or 2 would be great.......................I remember when I first saw Rattle and Hum when B.B. was congratulating Bono for when love comes to town's lyrics, saying he was a "62 years old rebel"..........and Bono was just 27.............what would be now? How much more experience and maturity would come out of a duet......................

"..........B.B King and the B.B King's Band.................Where's B.B?"

Fantastic, I have chills everytime I see it again...............

History to relive

I just saw BB perform late last year. He performed When Love Comes to Town and talked to the crowd about "that nice young man" Bono. (pronounced Bone-O  ) He even did the "cure for the blues" and LOVE in the house tonight bit encouraging the crowd to join in. He doesn't get around like he did, needing to perform from a chair, but he had a great sense of humor about it and at his age he was still great.

It worked for the blues period of U2, but I doubt they'd do it now. Even if they play When love comes to town live again, BB is probably too old to join them on a nightly basis.

But that's not necessarly the point, it would be more a romantic and sentimental thing, a couple of rehearsals and they would have it.

there it is.......................the man still rules, even from a chair..............and still remembers good old friends

^ He was banned.

But yeah BB King I couldn't see doing this on a whole tour. It's something that might work for a single show event though maybe.

(Though I won't say BB couldn't do it, he still plays a lot of shows for his age. I just noticed he's here again in December with a show 2 nights later in LA. He also has been here again a few times since I saw him less than a year ago. I haven't checked his schedule so I don't know exactly how extensive his touring is but he seems to play a lot of dates in Southern California.) By the way I believe he turned 83 last week.

It would be quite special if they performed together, it could bring a crowd to tears.

He was in Albuquerque a few weeks ago , I didn't get a chance to see him .

I am quite close with someone who worked security at one of BB's recent shows. He also happens to be a huge U2 fan. Not only did he get to keep an eye on Lucille, but when he helped escort BB, BB thanked him and called him "young man," which, as we know, is what he called Bono in the R&H scene.

He is now completely and utterly insufferable.

I will never hear the end of it

Just saw something on BB King (from People magazine, I think). He's 82 now and still touring, although he's understandably cut his schedule down to about 100 shows per year (that's cutting down?? LOL)

I think that would be cool, but probably not in line with the theme of the new music. If you mean a small gig or guest appearance by BB, yea, that would be cool to see.

considering u2 does 100 concerts every 4 years....................

yeah, that was what I was meaning, a guest appearance. i think New Orleans would be the best location for such a revival..........

yeah it's not a bad idea. I wonder how old is BB?

Mr. King just turned 83. He's decided to start taking it easier this year. He's now only doing about 100 concerts per year, instead of the 200 he used to.

B.B. King [ tickets ] has added a dozen more dates to his US tour, which now extends through New Year's Eve.

The blues legend, who finished a coast-to-coast summer jaunt in August, hit the road again earlier this month, and continues the trek tonight (9/25) in Bridgeport, CT. Since last check, he's added multiple nights in Texas, New Jersey and California, as well as gigs in Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana and New York. An updated itinerary is listed below.

King is supporting his latest effort, "One Kind Favor," which surfaced last month and debuted at No. 37 on The Billboard 200, making it the highest-debuting solo album of his nearly 60-year career, according to the magazine. The set has also retained the No. 1 spot on the Top Blues Albums chart for the last four weeks.

"One Kind Favor," produced by T Bone Burnett (Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Roy Orbison), features covers of old blues songs that inspired King as a young man and was made to sound like it was recorded in the '50s. Players include Dr. John on piano, Nathan East on standup bass and Jim Keltner on drums.

King, who turned 83 last week, got an early birthday present from his hometown of Indianola, MS: the opening of the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center. The $14 million facility is home to artifacts from the bluesman's life and career.

King has released more than 50 albums, won 14 Grammys and has been inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The honors keep coming, as the legendary musician is scheduled to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award this weekend at Memphis' 15th annual Blues Ball, according to the Memphis Business Journal. The event will also commemorate the renaming of the city's Third Street as B.B. King Highway.

:giggle: that's funny.

My brother was the manager at some of San Diego's and LA's Tower Records Stores. BB was a regular customer and he always liked to have my brother help him with his purchases. I'll have to ask him if he ever called him that.
