This. They sound like they're having a lot of fun on this one. A very simple, effective melody carries the load while the band works far outside of their comfort zone.

Yep.

Not bothering to rank, either. I love every track on here, and each one has its own unique sound and personality. Just brilliant instrumentation and creative production from top to bottom.

My one complaint would be that Dirty Day could use a better mix; when the dirty guitar comes crashing in it doesn't sound as powerful as it should.

Not a bad song. The first three are all absolutely fucking stellar songs. Some Days has been criminally underrated from the day I joined this forum, in my time I've felt that's been mostly from members here with less sophisticated music tastes, they think it's weird and silly when it's actually brilliant musically and fucking funny and slightly touching lyrically. Daddy's Gonna Pay also tends to get pegged in that category, which is ridiculous as it's straight fire. Numb rules, Babyface is also fucking awesome, although I'll probably never win people over on that one. The First Time is really nice. I will never really enjoy Dirty Days all that much because the studio recording is really flat, mostly thanks to Larry from the 00s transporting back in time to record this one song. And The Wanderer is cool.

Always a favorite of mine. Claycourt is on point here, and I love Bono's "list" songs. "Some days have bouncers that won't let you in" is one of his best, period. There is something touching about it, that broken-hearted stumbling around narrator that occasionally pops up. Tryin' To Throw Your Arms... is another one and actually the songs are very similar musically as well.

Also, best backwards guitar solo since I'm Only Sleeping.

My problem with Some Days (and several more songs) is that when I listen to it I think I should rank it higher... but then I listen to the other songs and then I rank them even higher, so even if I like it a lot, it ends up lower in my rank.

Zooropa has always stuck out as a very different album for me. It doesn't blend at all with anything else in my catalogue. I have to be in the mood to listen, but when I am, I love it. And, I have to listen to multiple songs.
