Though I cried when I first heard Magnificent last year.

Don't get me wrong, i wasn't making fun of you for crying at the beauty of a U2 song, I've done the same, but I was laughing because the tears I cried over that song were caused by a different emotion

Hard to rank, as the songs don't really have many commonalities between them at all, and this is probably a reason why the album seems to be universally acknowledged as severely lacking in any kind of cohesion or flow. When it's taken as a compilation of 11 songs, it actually is a pretty decent 45 min listen.

4. A Man and a Woman - this is criminally under appreciated I reckon,

6. One Step Closer - a grower. A pretty, understated tune comparable with First Time and Promenade

8. Miracle Drug - used to think this was the best thing since sliced bread when it first came out, but it's aged abysmally. Love Edge's time to shine both on guitar and vocally though, a worthwhile venture.
9. Original Of The Species
10.Love and Peace or Else - has not aged well!
11. All Because Of You - It's not so much atrocious, but annoying, like Stand Up Comedy.

Sometimes I LOVE this album. Sometimes I don't think it's really anything special. I do think that the album as a whole is inconsistent and that the tracks are better as stand-alone tracks. So yeah, Parts > Whole. I'd probably put it above Zooropa (BLASPHEMY I KNOW), R&H, ATYCLB, and October.

Easily one of my least favourite albums, in as much as I don't feel any cohesion when I listen to it; seems to me like a bunch of good tracks that have been cobbled (ha!) together . . . I rarely, if ever listen to this as an album, but all the tracks do get an airing in various playlists.

I don't dislike any of the songs, though I do prefer the alternate versions of Yahweh and All because of you - and I really liked the acoustic version of Yahweh on Vertigo tour. as I've said previous, I saw 24 vertigo shows and I figured, eh, they can drop Yahweh, big deal - but I did miss it when it wasn't in the setlist.

if U2 bring back the acoustic spot on 360, they should rotate it more - throw in a man and a woman or original of the species acoustically (as well as others) - i mean why not? original was touted as the best song on the album by Bono, and they seemed to have played it every other way possible.

probably thanks to the Vertigo tour, Bomb would be around the halfway mark on my rankings and towards the upper half in U2's catalogue for me. I can see how people will mark points off for lack of cohesion - something even U2 would admit - but I really do think the collection of songs are good.

And I don't care what people think, Vertigo kicks ass.

I think it's a solid album, if somewhat plain. I'd hesitate to name any songs my big U2 favourites, but I don't really dislike any of the songs either.
