My personal album summary

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Who are y'all to decide that Original Soundquacks Vol. 13 or whatever it's called, is a "U2" album, when the band themselves decided it wasn't?

They may have disowned Pop, but at least they admit it was by them.

Hi everyone. First-time poster here. I've been a big U2 fan since 1985 or so.

Anyway, I wanted to do one of those lists where I basically sum up how I feel about each album, in a nutshell, with feedback from the community if you agree/disagree.

Here goes:

Boy: Great
October: Great
War: Fantastic
Unforgettable Fire: Very good (I think Pride might be my favorite U2 song)
Joshua Tree: Phenomenal
R&H: Excellent
Achtung Baby: Phenomenal, again
Zooropa: Good
Pop: Very good, very underrated
ATYCLB: Good ... mostly (somebody please help me with this one!)
Atomic Bomb: Good ... mostly (again, a little help here)
Horizon: Very, very good (don't know about Boots, though)

Thanks for reading.

Hi. I'm new here as well.

You're the first person I've seen describing R&H as excellent! But I actually halfway agree with you. Many of the studio tracks are really good! And even the live ones, though they are far from the best versions of the particular songs, I have nostalgic attachments to them. So yeah...

Here's my list:

Boy - Very good debut - 8
October - Good but not quite as good as Boy - 7
War - Great first half, good second half - 8
The Unforgettable Fire - Great atmosphere, uneven in parts though - 8
The Joshua Tree - Epic! - 10
Rattle And Hum - Mixed bag but still enjoyable when in the right mood - 7
Achtung Baby - Stunning! - 10
Zooropa - Cool follow-up to Achtung, a bit lacking towards the end - 8
Pop - Misunderstood gem! - 9
All That You Can't Leave Behind - Bright, sunny, optimistic but a little dull - 7
How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb - Good collection of songs but no subtlety or atmosphere! - 6
No Line On The Horizon - Very good comeback minus the middle 3 - 8

Boy - 8
October - 7
War - 7
The Unforgettable Fire - 9
The Joshua Tree - 9
Rattle & Hum - 8
Achtung Baby - 10
Zooropa - 8
Original Soundtracks 1 (Passengers) - 6
Pop - 9
All That You Can't Leave Behind - 7
How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb - 7
No Line On The Horizon - 7
10 Reasons To Exist - 10

Newbies coming and rating Pop very highly?

The hive is spreading way outside the Internet (or America if you will).

Actually....i wanna review my score i gave Rattle and Hum.....and want to UP the score to a 9. As it was the most magical time ever of my u2 fandom.

Which then makes me realise just how strong the output from UF to AB was, with me scoring the 4 albums an AVERAGE score of 9. How spoilt we were back then

Boy: B-
October: D

Mine

Using a typical rating scale with 5 choices: Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, Excellent.

Boy: Very Good
October: Very Good
War: Excellent
Unforgettable Fire: Very Good
Joshua Tree: Excellent
R&H: Very Good
Achtung Baby: Excellent
Zooropa: Good
Pop: Very Good
ATYCLB: Good (a few years ago I would've rated this Very Good but it's dipped for me)
Atomic Bomb: Good
Horizon: Good

Their three most underrated albums are October, Unforgettable Fire, and Pop.

I think the three most overrated might be the three most recent ones, and it pains me to say that about both ATYCLB and Horizon.
