Pretty sure Adam was wearing a trilby in the advert for the U2@bbc thing last year, he looked really f@88ing cool.

Really? The only time I remember wearing a hat is during a passengers photoshoot(where he had the long beard off his chin).

Going back to the original question, Slash's hat wins hand down. Still waiting for a Sicy photoshop on the beanie though...and would love to see a picture of the lovetown bandana pirate...with the eye patch!

Slash's tophat is more iconic. Although Edge's ZOO TV skull cap was hot.

However, both readily lose out to Bono's sunglasses. Those have become as famous as John Lennon's granny glasses, Mick Jagger's lips, Elvis' white jump suit, Madonna's cone breast plate and Annie Lennox's ultra short hair. Any time anyone wears something anywhere similar to any of these items, you immediately know who they are. Slash's tophat is close, but I'm not sure he was quite famous enough for EVERYONE to know.

Now, if there was a way to "wear" Edge's echo effect, then that would be iconic.
