Saying that rock music had its heyday in the late '60s to early '70s is not a jab at U2.

I'm more upset about what Larry said about the Killers.

what did he say?

U2 is my favorite band again. Not only did I have better things to do than to listen to the beachclips but now Edge is slamming Andrew Loyd webber. And I just got a bottle of Barolo '2001 from a friend. And to think the night has just begun. can it get any beter? That depedns on what Larry said I guess

Let's not forget the dig Crowded House take in Chocolate Cake either:

Not everyone in New York would pay to see Andrew Lloyd Webber
May his trousers fall down as he bows to the queen and the crown
I don't know what tune that the orchestra played
But it went by me sickly and sentimental

I'll have another piece of chocolate cake while Annie weeps.
damn, i was going to post this. oh well.

He didnt even mention The Lord. However his comments are obviously ridiculous as there have been many many superb musicals in the last few decades, over here in the West End and on Broadway. He wasn't even alive to see any in the years he was talking about, so how can he really give a fair comment? Perhaps he's just been seeing the wrong musicals

buying a midlife-crisis boat must have clouded his judgement

he did start with by saying he wasnt making a dig at anyone.

I think in some respect he is right: musicals were more popular back in those days. But obviously, decent stuff has been made since. :)

Reading an airport novelette, listening to Andrew Lloyd-Webber's "Requiem"
He said, before it had really begun, "I prefer the one about my son"
"I've been wading through all this unbelievable
junk and wondering if I should have given
the world to the monkeys"

Elvis Costello - "God's Comic"

That being said, "Pie Jesu" from his Requiem is one of those timeless melodies I mentioned earlier. Gorgeous.

I only know Andrew Lloyd Webber's name because of the sitcome THE NANNY

besides that, I don't think that many people have heard of him that don't know what CATS is...

Edge >>>>>>>>>>>> ALW >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bono

is there any point to this thread? Please say it's a joke. I'm HOPING it's a joke!

I didn't like the song until I read these lyrics.
