Oh Discotheque... the song that completely turned 15-year-old me off of U2 for many years to come. I remember sitting in front of my TV, watching the video on MTV, and feeling so tragically disappointed at Bono's shaved head and the strange sounds. "U2 have turned into a dance band!" I lamented.

Now I think the song kicks ass. How could I ever have hated something so sweet.

The Discotheque single was commercially released on February 3/4, 1997.

Happy birthday Discotheque!

*Continues killing time waiting for NLOTH to leak*

That's cool .. for some strange reason I played POP CD yesterday ....
Discotheque still is refreshing. Also on VH1 there was U2 weekend ... again I saw discotheque there ... cool!

Discotheque may have fell off the charts quicker then most U2 lead singles but I can't imagine anything else from Pop being a better first single. Mofo would have been cooler in a Fly sort of way, but that probably would have done even worse then Discotheque.
