They're both pretty generic. Something as non-specific as these guitar parts can't really be called rip-offs of one another. And regardless of whether they're musically similar, the songs themselves are totally different, and the parts are used in completly different contexts. They're artistically and aesthetically different, even if technically "similar."

Well the opening verse is A to D, and it's strummed on an acoustic, but after that they have no similarites at all. 1000s of songs have an A to D verse.
